Strong Cappuccino? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Potentially stupid question, I’m still new, but I want to learn and I’m worried something is going completely over my head!
I had someone ask for a tall cappuccino and said he likes them really strong and doesn’t like much milk. So I, a bit confused, asked if he would like it more on the dry side. But he pointed to like 3/4ths up the cup and said that’s where he’d like his coffee to go up to. So I told him we could add a shot or two, but having just espresso go up that high would require quite a bit. So he just changed to a latte with an extra shot and seemed a bit frustrated.
Did I totally misunderstand him? Was there a better option to offer? I’m at a “proudly serve” cafe and mostly work alone so I don’t really have anyone else to ask. Did… he want like an Americano with a bit of steamed milk??

Probably would recommend a misto with a shot of espresso. Its coffee and steamed/foamed milk, and add a shot or two of espresso for more robust flavor.

It sounds like he wanted an espresso macchiato? It's however many shots he wants with a foam topper. It doesn't usually come up to 3/4 of the cup but it makes more sense than whatever the hell he was asking for. But no, you didn't miss anything, he just doesn't know what he's talking about, sounds like.

Thank you for the help! I was honestly so confused. I’m still so new and there are things I definitely don’t know, so most of the time I just assume I don’t know whatever it is they want because I’m inexperienced. This one threw me for a loop though!

Blonde espresso is actually more mild in flavor. It's stronger in terms of caffeine

There ARE customers that will intentionally ask for this in hopes of getting more espresso for a cheaper price.
The best offer is probably a misto like someone else mentioned that can give him the appropriate level of coffee they’re asking for
