ANOTHER RANTTTTT (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by E-Aphrodite
So we got a new shift lead, he’s an external hire. From the start of him becoming a barista he’s been really out there and outgoing, whatever that’s fine. I was on cafe/mobile bar and cafe mobile are rarely busy, he’s at DTO. As soon as the ticket comes out he swoops in and takes MY DRINKK, WHILE TAKING AN ORDER. I ignored it, I said he’s just being helpful whatever, but like I was doing small tasks, I WANTED TO MAKE THE DRINK. Anyways, today, he’s shadowing a supervisor and is wearing a headset. I’m on DTO, taking orders and as soon as a car would come HE WOULD TAKE THE ORDER. I tell him over the mic, I got it, I’m doing DTO, worry about food. He keeps doing it, and a minute ago a customer came through the drive through because she claimed her drink was wrong and as I was explaining to her the reason her drink does not taste like espresso shots is because Frappuccino’s do not come with shots, he cuts me off and start explaining to the customer. I’m like ????? And it’s super freaking annoying when someone continuously CUTS ME OFF AND TAKES MY MF DRINKSSSSS. I know how to do my job I’ve been here for a while, stop cutting me off dude.

Can you talk to your SM or ASM? This would annoy me so badly, I’m sorry this is happening to you

I told my supervisor that he is shadowing right now, and she talked to him. She says he’s one of those people that thinks he’s been helpful, oblivious, so I should just tell him

Yeah honestly I would just tell him straight up that you appreciate him trying to help you but it’s overwhelming for you and you’d rather do your job yourself lol

We had a shift who was an outside hire and she was exactly like this. She actually came from a licensed store, so she would always say she was used to having to run everything by herself and that’s why she would try to do everyone’s jobs for us. But it was super irritating when she would always cut into DTO, even while on her breaks because she would keep her headset on. We had to tell her that all of us have been here for awhile, and she needs to trust us to do our dang jobs.
