Masks… (self.starbucksbaristas)

So…lemme see if I follow. Because you can’t get vaccinated (for a few more days to boot) every partner should acquiesce to your prerogative? Even though they’re all vaccinated and have probably waited longer than you to unmask? But because you can’t be immediately gratified they shouldn’t either? Is that about right? Definitely doesn’t sound like a naive 17 year old rant at all…

No, I’m not. I’m literally repeating OPs argument from a different perspective. They’re asking for everyone to remained masked until they do g have to be. And for the record, I couldn’t care less what the policy is. I’m just not into selfish misconceptions of entitlement. I wore my mask for a year and a half happily. I dealt with all number of ignorant, mouth breathing, science denying idiots telling me I was propagating fear. I got vaccinated. Now, the same mfs that argued to follow CDC guidelines are whining bc CDC guidelines do t include their prerogative.

No I just think if they allow some people take it off than everyone should be able to. Or the opposite way around. And I know i’m not the only one this is effecting because I know three other baristas in just my store and another that this is affecting. I just think they should consider other partners thay don’t or can’t get it. I could care less about how long it takes. No problem with wearing a mask, but they should make it an all or nobody type of thing. No problem with being handed the short hand of the stick at 17, gratifying takes time and i’m not an ungrateful shit that wants everything my way. I’ve worked hard to be where i’m at but thanks for bringing age into it to and not considering literally anything else about my life. Real mature of you I think. I appreciate your opinion tho and understand how I sound that way.

Also, I only brought your age into it because you literally started your rant by stating your age. In terms of maturity, do you think it’s a mature thing to whine about how everyone else should have to wait for you to get vaxxed to take their masks off? The unfortunate reality that your generation as a whole seems not to grasp is that you’re not entitled to get your way just because you really really want it. The fact is, you did get the shit end of the stick and you want everyone to as well until you personally get what what you want. That’s the definition of selfishness and immaturity.

But I will say. I’m not the only one. 100%. Let’s say 6/25 partners in every store don’t agree with this policy. Apparently in 2018 291000 people worked at starbucks. That’s 69,840 people that are in a similar situation like me. Definitely not alone here, a lot of them at my store are just getting the vaccine anyway because they are tired of mask. but I could name the 6 people at my store that don’t agree with this.

Sounds like you want them to consider you personally because you can’t take off your mask yet. Listen, that sucks that your parents won’t let you get vaxxed. Why do you want those that DID get vaxxed to wait for you. What is that makes you so special that the bar should be set at you?

We have the option at my store too. We still wear masks and we’re all vaccinated. We’re smart enough not to trust people to do the right thing, so we’re protecting ourselves. As you should, especially not being vaccinated.

That’s fair, my manager was saying “I’m gonna still wear it anyway to protect myself.” but yeah that changed real fast. I wouldn’t mind wearing it till this is all over, i don’t mind the mask at all. I just wish either everyone would or wouldn’t or it should be a personal decision and not forced either way.

Na. Some of us are vaccinated and don’t want to wear them at work.

If you have a health condition preventing you from it, then idk what to say.

Science has proven that people with breathing problems and chronic conditions aren’t impacted by the wearing of a mask, even in heat.

You’re just afraid of standing out while nobody else is wearing one. As someone who stands out every day (I am a trans woman), get over it.

Okay damn. I just think it should be fully optional. No one required to wear them. If some people don’t have to then let everyone not have to. Yeah i’ll get over it i’ve just been waiting a while to actually see people’s face because i’m a people person and that’s how I make connections. I don’t not wanna wear it because i don’t believe mask work or anything I think they do. And I can breath perfectly fine in it. Just think at this point it should be fully optional just like it is for our customers. If starbucks think it’s safe for unvaccinated customers to not have them on them why is it different for us? My store used to have a sign out front if your vaccinated you can have it off but now it’s the “mask are optional sign”. Just wish it went both ways.

The difference is if you’re not vaccinated and choosing not to wear one you’re putting others at risk.

It makes scientific sense to mask up if you have not been vaccinated
