So without further information (like if OP can confirm they know the exact drinks were made again the same way) it sounds like something was typed in wrong / changed at the window / a regular customer who says something contrary to what they actually want. While OP probably made the drinks as written, the drinks that ended up being needed was something different.
Other person didn't explain the problem but continued onto making the on-the-fly drinks. This was possibly a reason like: soo as to hopefully not break OP's rhythm, or to get the drinks they were maybe waiting on out faster. When I was at a drive through \~4 years ago this would have been fairly normal.
If this is the correct chain of events, then I would say yeah, OP is probably overthinking it. Other person was likely just trying to help out / keep things moving and didn't spend time/breath to catch up. In my experience in a high-paced drive thru, keeping people filled in on what's going on can feel like a lot, so things kind of become need-to-know.
