TL;DR: fuck Starbucks I’m quitting but I think I’ll actually miss it bc I love the baristas I trained and I love my regulars + there’s a few things I never got to do that I wish I had done sooner

Ngl it’s actually bittersweet. I work here part time on summer/winter break from college when I move off campus. All of my previous experience working here has been great, but this past summer break has been the worst so I couldn’t wait to quit and I decided not to come back when winter break rolls around. But now things are starting to turn around for the better at my store so I actually feel a bit sad that I’m leaving, like I’ll miss it.

I know Starbucks isn’t specialty coffee or anything, but it has sparked my passion for specialty coffee. I’ve been experimenting with brewing methods, blends, grinds, you name it at home. My DM found some old passports in the back today and I didn’t even know that was a thing, so now I’m a little disappointed I’ll never get to finish that since it’s something I’ve started caring about now (plus my store has the discontinued pins for finishing the passport).

Don’t get me wrong, the bad days were hell on earth. I won’t miss working for Starbucks^(TM). I’ll miss all the baristas I helped train. I’m so proud of them for how far they’ve come. Given how much training experience I have now I definitely should’ve tried to become a certified barista trainer. I’ll miss the regulars who only want me to make their drinks. I’ll miss topping frappes with whipped cream at the bar so that little kids get to watch.

Basically guys this is my sappy goodbye letter. Starbucks fucking sucks and I am filled with righteous anger when I think about how corrupt the company is and how terrible they treat their employees at every level. I’ll think twice before supporting them with my business in the future. But you guys are pretty alright. Thanks for being my support system when customers made me question it all.

P. S. If any of y’all know the best way to put whipped cream in the bottom of a venti cup pls share. My venti crcf’s never look as pretty as my talls or grandes and I’ve got two weeks left to perfect my technique

Check out the book Craft Coffee by Jessica Easto. Great entryway into the specialty/craft coffee world.

I appreciate the recommendation, I’ll definitely check it out!

I feel you. I don't like a lot of what's happening, but I like the few protections we do get and my crew. Idk. It sucks. Good on you for doing what you need.

To the ps: shove that nozzle down as far as it'll go, pull gently, swirl cup.

Or blast it real hard real fast and hope for the best. It ends up looking nearly identical.

to reply to your PS, what works for me is ever so slightly squeezing the nozzle of the whip so it doesn’t go absolutely everywhere and make a mess
