There is a shift change form in the book, or sometimes it’s kept in the DCR binder. either way, you need to fill it out and sign, both you and the person you’re switching with, and then get a shift or manager signature. yes, you get the tips for the shift you work, even if you weren’t scheduled for it. it’s all based on the real hours you worked.

I've worked for Starbucks for over four years and never filled out a form to swap a shift with another partner. Some store manager being extra. Lol. That being said, the reason to make sure your manager knows is in case the person who agreed to take your shift doesn't show up. You want them to be in trouble for a no show, not you since you were responsible and got coverage. Re tips: cash tips are calculated off a report that is run based off all clocked hours. Digital tips are added to your check...again, based on clocked hours.
