incoming college freshman with questions(self.starbucksbaristas)

i’ve posted in here before about 2 months ago, so this might sound a bit familiar to some people. i’m leaving my current store in about 3 weeks due to me moving 6 hours away for college. i talked to my SM about being able to work on breaks when i come back home, but she told me that starbucks has a new rule where you have to have a shift at least once a month to be able to keep the job. she asked me if i want to transfer to a starbucks where i’ll be living, and i really want to because i love this stupid job. does working ~15 hours a week sound like a stupid plan for a college freshman in a brand new city, or do you guys think i’d be good to go? i have no idea about the work flow of homework i’ll have so i’m not sure. thanks :)

I mean, I worked weekends starting 1 month after I moved to a city for college, but I was 20 and didn't plan to do things like "party" or "extracurriculars". So, personal choice on that one.

i’ve never been to a party, i’m on reddit at the early age of 18, i think that says enough hahahah

I work at a campus starbucks and we have a ton of partners that only work 10-15 hrs it is reasonable just be upfront with the manager that your transferring in to

We have some partners in my district who are here for college, they work between 10 and 15 hours a week (sometimes less then 10) and they go home for holidays and work at stores around their homes.
I think it is perfectly reasonable as long as you keep your expectations transparent. Plus in a college town, there are going to be a bunch of kids doing the same exact thing. A free coffee beverage and food item for a freshman in college will be invaluable, plus a place to study where you know the people? Solid!
Transfer, and if/when you want to come back, do.

I would transfer if I were you. Work minimal hours a week until you get into a groove with your homework load and decide from there if you wanna stay
