Green bean here. Is it worth it? Having super big doubts about staying with Starbucks (self.starbucksbaristas)

No it’s not worth it. The company tries to slap us with “benefits” and then allow district managers to cut hours through the whole district just to keep making sure they get a bonus. This company is more and more becoming the worst. I’ve been with the company for 5 years now and this last year and a half during covid has been the worst. The cater to the entitlement of people and essentially tell us it’s our job to get yelled and cussed at because no matter what they are gonna back the customer and not the employee. If you’re having doubts now it never gets better.

This was my 3rd day on the floor. I’m an opener.

I was supposed to ring people up, man the ovens and stock the pastry.

This is a super busy location, like constant line to the door, so you can never catch your breath. I burnt my hand today and had to rush back to the floor.

Is this normal? Shouldn’t there be more people?

I have a night job as a pizza driver for a mom & pop pizza shop. That job is a joy to go to everyday. It pays less, but it’s fun and I make really good tips. I always leave feeling happy.

I don’t know if I want to stay on with Starbucks.

Normal. And it’ll get worse.

Not worth it, all Starbucks cares about it is money, just put my two weeks in…and feel free😎

Depends on the location and the partners you work with. I love my store and would only leave if my manager left. It’s a drive thru and I work at night. Average is 9k a day so it’s not the busiest store but the partners make it worth it. It’s a 20 mile drive but the locations closer to me suck and I wouldn’t want to work at any of them.

I’m in a similar position to you, I got hired roughly a month ago and I’m having serious doubts about staying here. I know everyone said there’s an adjustment period of roughly 3 months, but I’m really struggling with family situations, my mental health, and balancing work all on top of it. I feel like if you’re at a point where you’re putting your doubts into words, then I don’t think it is worth it.

You and your metal health come first, Starbucks don’t care about us, so I stopped caring about them😎

It’s going to depend on your store, your situation, and what you think is worth it. For most people, it does take a bit to adjust. But if you burnt your hand and you were rushed back on the floor instead of given the time to take tare of yourself, I’d have concerns about store safety. I’m a long time partner, but I never judge someone for deciding that this place is not for them.
