They’re required by law to pay you for 3 hrs since you showed up.

Well, I did end up working for more than 3 hours bc I was sitting in the lobby and a barista needed coverage because they had a panic attack
Bzevans2 points2y ago
Sweet. Make sure they pay you from the time you were supposed to start, not from the time of the panic attack
hidethenight1749 points2y ago
That’s reportable. And it’s required by law to either pay you for a minimum of 3 hours or to put you to work in that situation.
cringeqween1313 points2y ago
I need to know where to find this for future reference
hidethenight1715 points2y ago
I know in Canada, the minimum anyone is allowed to work is 3 hours. Even if you work one you get paid three, unless stated otherwise when you’re hired. And if you’re phoned in and they deny you the time when you show up, because they simply didn’t tell you. It’s the companies fault to pay you. A lot of the time they try to get around it, but legally they’re supposed to.

That's really shitty of them. I'm sorry. 😞
katieo112217 points2y ago
At least it wasn't all for nothing. Still, shitty.

You do do too much for this garbage ass company. I agree.

I am so sorry

Also, aren’t we supposed to pay out for borrowed partners?
Balisong_Witch1 points2y ago
Yeah, I get paid for covering shifts. My state has a facebook group for the metro area where people offer and take shifts. That’s how I’ve gotten a lot of my hours.

I am so sorry! This sucks! I agree that you should report it.
