I was a trainer before I became a SSV. Now that I’m a ssv I technically don’t “train” anyone. However I’ve found that working as a SSV is basically means I’m a trainer as well. There is always an opportunity to help a barista grow, ie coaching, especially a green bean fresh out of their first week! Even if you aren’t a trainer, remember there’s always opportunities to help your fellow baristas grow and learn!! For example, we have a new barista who has been working for a few weeks, but this week I noticed he could use some help with sequencing. So I made some time to step aside from what I normally do during shift, and helped him practice! Good luck! You’re doing great.

yeah honestly if you like the job its rewarding to see people learn, go for it. i personally am pretty hands-off, new people starting tend to overthink recipes & doubt themselves, i really let them try to figure it out before i step in again. theyll ask you for a chart for shots & syrup pumps, dont make it.
