anyone know about the free food/drink benefit going away? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by radioactivebismuth
i was at a random starbucks the other day and tried giving them my partner numbers, but they said they aren’t doing that anymore. apparently we won’t be able to get our free food and drink everyday starting sometime in september, but their boss was being an asshole and decided to start it sooner. can anyone confirm if this is actually happening? been thinking about quitting and if this is actually going away then i definitely will be.

I don't think that is OK with corporate, the day off mark outs will continue into September. I hope you got your mark out somewhere else because if they are doing it, it's because they are getting away with it, not because it's ok

I wish they’d just keep it. It’s such a nice benefit.

Same. The corporate higher ups really have no idea what it’s like to actually need a free food item from your job that doesn’t pay you enough to feed yourself.

Legit I’m going to be upset when I have to start paying for off the clock drinks again.

It’s a temporary benefit for covid, it’s already been extended like 5 times and the current end date is September 26. If you had to pay for your order, you can call partner resources and tell them what happened so they can refund you. Someone needs to tell that store’s DM, it’s still a benefit and not something that a manager can just decide not to do.

The day this happens is the day I quit lmao

Literally a main reason I haven't quit

i got the job during the pandemic only for this sole reason

Yeah, they're wrong. It's extended through September, and if they're a corporate owned store the manager doesn't get to decide to stop following corporate policies. Happened to me a few months ago, people are idiots and don't communicate/read updates. Just give us, your fellow partners, the free food. We're on the same team !!

If a manager told me this I would have gone off on them. Fuck that. Don't deprive people of their benefit when it's not even time to. Taking it away in the first place is utter bullshit. I fucking hate this company.

Edit: OP, if this happens to you again before you quit or before Septembe 26th, let me know. I'll help you find a way to settle the dispute. I got you.

That should just be an expected benefit when you work in food service, it disgusts me that they will take it away... It should have been standard in the first place
hammerkat605 9 points 2y ago
Honestly that’s why I haven’t quit yet

The benefit was extended to end of September, per a weekly update from mid May
