The best mocha you’ll have in your life (for sbux quality anyway)(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by gay_robots
I’d never post recipes on tik tok bc lord knows that hellsite makes me want to catapult myself into space with all the “secret menu” items. But I trust you guys to keep this between us.
Skip the mocha sauce. Instead, scoop malt powder into the milk before steaming just like you’d do for a green tea latte. Proceed as usual for the rest of the latte.
You’re welcome

I did this a few weeks ago! It tastes good with some vanilla in it too.
bryceofswadia25 points2y ago
I wouldnt hâte making this tbh. Not too complicated.
[deleted]11 points2y ago
Right? Replace the god damn shaken espresso with it
bryceofswadia21 points2y ago
It’s the 18 edit drinks I have a problem with. Small more complicated drinks like this that only require one extra step are fine. It’s the frappuccino’s with like 18 extra ingredients that piss me off
medusas-garden8 points2y ago
This is less complicated than a green tea latte too bc you don’t have to walk all the way over to cold bar to get matcha.
banditoburrit03 points2y ago
Wait is your malt powder NOT on cold bar? Where is it??
bryceofswadia2 points2y ago
This.
Exotic_Friendship_434 points2y ago
Frappuccino’s period piss me off. Especially the mocha cookie crumble !
berniesmom274 points2y ago
idk why but any frap that has java chips in i do not want to make 😭😂
zgjordan25 points2y ago
im skeptical since i hated the shaken almondmilk one but i will def be trying next shift
jdestinyp3 points2y ago
Agreed

Chocolate malt is so really good in syrup cream Frappuccinos! Also with vanilla bean powder or with the strawberries and cream. I usually do oatmilk with it because I can't do a lot of dairy anymore and it works really well with it.
Ghost_girl_xx9 points2y ago
Put it in cold foam too, it tastes like coco pebbles milk *chefs kiss*

My coworker did something like this today with chai, soy milk and the malt powder. It was like a spiced mocha
Bryancreates5 points2y ago
RIP chocolate chai. It was decent just annoying.
aznflamingo3 points2y ago
Starbucks has malt powder?
sapphic-slut4 points2y ago
It's pretty new, it's in the chocolate shaken almond espresso drink
Elliotisnotokay1 points2y ago
Not everywhere. Where I'm from in Canada we don't have it
ChemicalBarnacle3 points2y ago
I did something similar with the mocha cookie crunch frappe, I put that instead of mocha and added some vanilla and coconut milk instead of whole milk (lactose)
chiile-anyways_uhm1 points2y ago
Doing this with vanilla bean powder is really good too!!
the1noir1 points2y ago
I like to do shaken espresso, no classic, sub 2 white mocha and 2 malt (or whatever tickles your fancy, this is for a venti size) and sub oat milk. I like to add a extra shot of espresso, make it blonde and Ristretto. It legit tastes like a malt milkshake. Whenever someone asks for a “surprise me drink” (which I enjoy doing tbh) I also give them this (:
aronelo1 points2y ago
I tried steaming some malt powder in with oat milk today and it was the grossest thing I ever tasted. Maybe I just needed a different milk, but I’m trying to go low-dairy because of stomach stuff and oat seemed the best choice 🤔
drinkliquidclocks1 points2y ago
Maybe I just don't like malt? To me it's the grossest thing we've ever served the smell literally makes me gag 😭 anyone else
mr_epix181 points2y ago
I ALWAYS LOVE DOING CHOCOLATE MALT POWDER INSTEAD OF MOCHA!!! When we had hazelnut, I liked to make what I called a Hazelnut Chocolate Malt Steamer (I don’t like espresso but I work at Starbucks (go figure)). It was my favorite hot drink. Now, I just do it with caramel syrup, still delicious!
michelalien1 points2y ago
i’ve been thinking about trying this…wouldn’t it be like normal hot chocolate?
madamesoybean1 points2y ago
It would taste like Ovaltine. Yum!
_five_by_five_1 points2y ago
I do this all the time! It’s especially good with soy!
