Honestly it does get better with experience. It's like learning to play an instrument. You can't improve without practice. However, that being said, with a lack of support from those around you, it can most certainly be an unpleasant experience working for Starbucks. Sounds like you come from a store that has partners that are under a whole lot of stress and they're probably taking it out on you. Whether intentional or not, it's a very common occurrence. I'm not innocent either- when it's really busy at my store and one of the new partners isn't going very quickly or seems to be struggling, I tend to jump into whatever they're doing to try and move things along, but I don't mean it as a personal attack, you know? Your coworkers seem to be doing it wrong. Don't take it personally. Everyone was where you are at one point. You will get there. One day you'll walk into work and truly feel like a barista. Don't let other people bring you down. You'll get there someday. <3

I am also pretty new to Starbucks and it took me around 3 months to really get into the groove of being a barista. Things do take a lot of time and I’m sure you are doing pretty well for being new. Don’t let the other partners get in your head, just know that you are working as hard as you can and you’ll get there one day. Best of luck to you

Absolutely agree that you just get better at it. But tbh if you’re that overwhelmed, and want to quit, we only get paid minimum wage. Perhaps another job might be a better fit for the same pay? Starbucks is physically and emotionally demanding and being berated by customers is just the norm.

I think we are on the same page, and I agree it’s a corporate issue. There’s...a lot of corporate issues. And if someone’s genuinely suffering, what’s a stool gonna do? Starbucks can pretend to make accommodations like they pretend to save the turtles with paper straws, but walking around is part of the job. The register still has to grab coffee. Starbucks doesn’t hesitate to overwork its staff who is able bodied. Especially at a busy store. If the coworkers aren’t supportive either and slacking off, it’s just not worth it.

You’ve only been there for a week but your team have been there longer. They should know better than to treat you like that. They are not creating a good environment for you to flourish as a barista and I’m sorry. I hope you have better days ahead ❤️☕️

It’s totally normally just to start off with! I’m a perfectionist and it completely knocked my confidence when I messed up in my first few weeks. It’s just going to happen. You have to ride it out. As long as you don’t make the same mistake twice then eventually you’ll run out of things to mess up. (My old shift told me that, kinda dumb but you get the point) But definitely let them know about your condition and how your feeling. Communicating will make it easier on them so they know what they can and probably can’t assign tasks that may be more strenuous for you. Additionally, you won’t be feeling too stressed. Things will get better in a month! Just have to ride it out. Hope all goes well :)

That's actually two jobs or two and a half and not at all fair unless we're fairly slow
