at my store, we dump the pike at closing time. we always make sure we have some just in case. ill usually make a quarter batch an hour before closing so it's at least fresh for a few customers but if there's a bigger demand, ill make a bigger batch. but it just depends on your store & how yall do things.

“You’re required to brew hot coffee all day every day. It’s part of our promise to our customers.” Exact words from my DM when she realized I didn’t have fresh coffee anywhere. Just clean two urns, brew a quarter into one of the clean ones, then clean the other two.

i swear to god, id do everything by the book if they staffed us in a way that even made it remotely possible lmao. Its not like management doesnt know we have to cut corners- they turn a blind eye to it when its convenient for them (looking at the labor budget). But you, me, them, and god know they'll throw us under the bus as soon as something gets audited or escalated.

According to sbux policy you always have to have drip coffee, up until you close. I think the exact phrasing is you can't close anything that would "significantly impact customer experience" like turning both your ovens off or throwing out all your food. But also I don't think it's the worst that could happen either. We kept a 1/4 of pike and dumped everything else, usually stopped brewing blonde an hour before close and dark stopped 30 minutes before. It doesnt take that long to clean them, but I understand wanting to get it out of the way

Saaaame. We are fairly busy suburban kind of area too. I wonder if the person you replied to works in a big city because I can't imagine where else there would be a demand for that.

I'm not going to answer this other than... The Americano is a very popular drink in my store at least 2hrs before closing. 🤷😆

If there is one thing that Starbucks should always have in stock and ready, it’s hot coffee

I agree wholeheartedly. The amount of hot coffee we dump on a daily basis is insane. But I still believe Starbucks as a whole should always have hot coffee

My store closes at 8 the last one I brew is at 730 dump it out at 8
NervosaNervous10 points2y ago
We usually stop brewing at around 7:30 and just make Americanos for the rest of the evening if anyone orders Pike. We very rarely ever get orders for Pike after 7 anyway.
bananawallet6 points2y ago
But do you tell them? lol my store just says to ring it as pike and make an americano 😭
GreyGreyson7 points2y ago
Ngl it depends on how rude the customer is
NervosaNervous-1 points2y ago
Usually, yes. There have been a couple instances where the DTO/DTR person forgets that we’ve dropped Pike. But we’ve never had anyone complain before.
FfierceLaw8 points2y ago
I would have made him a Pike pour over and charged him for a brewed Pike, end of story
getwreckeddd4 points2y ago
it really depends on ur lead, technically we r supposed to brew Pike all day/night long but after a certain time we don’t brew it at all but we have a 1/4 batch prepped in case they ask for but i remind them it’s a 4-5 min wait or i’ll offer an americano. bc one lead literally doesn’t give a damn & my other lead is a hard ass so yea

Blonde and dark go at 11 am and pike at closing but we have a quarter pike brewed for an hour before closing
Broccoli_In_The_Butt2 points2y ago
Pike at close, blonde and dark anywhere from 10-1 depending on how many people are ordering them
Mundane-Scarcity58321 points2y ago
No you not fuck these other corporate junkies, shoulda given him an americano <3
morwen5381 points2y ago
Last pike batch begins brewing at 6:24 to be ready at 6:30. Dump at 7 with lights off. Dark from 10-12. Medium volume kiosk so short peak
Responsible-Will60401 points2y ago
We stop brewing blonde and dark roast after 11am and keep pikes till close- I usually pour a couple venti cups in the minutes leading up to locking the doors so I can rinse the urn quicker
Webshooter381 points2y ago
11AM lol
rosesandthorns171 points2y ago
we stop brewing everything but pike by noon
here_forthefun1 points2y ago
We dump our coffee at close but we brew pike every half hour up until 6:30 and then we close at 7
verdeuce1 points2y ago
30 min coffee timer, 1/4 batches until close. Once you start the last batch a half hour before close, rinse the last brewer you just used then dump and rinse the last one at close.
Used_Thought46721 points2y ago
Company policy you have to have Pike brewed until close. We stop brewing out other blends at 1 and offer pour overs unless they want a few of the same blend. And we dump pike at close. I try to keep the brew cadence in the afternoon on even half hour intervals so it’s always good until close
Elliotisnotokay0 points2y ago
We aren't supposed to stop. Brew pike till close
xparxx0 points2y ago
I brew 1/4ths batches of pike usually from like 4-close (6pm) but we always make sure to have some until close
krym32zamoon0 points2y ago
You should at a minimum have pike until you close. So yes, it's very understandable that he wanted what he should be able to get from this company, hot coffee. We stop brewing blonde around 6pm, and dark and decaf around 8/30pm depending on the feel of the day and we close at 9pm
