Just a note, your backup amounts will SUPER depend on what store you work at and the product mix of that store. My store takes a week+ to get through a dark caramel so we never have a backup of that, and we pretty steadily only need 1 bag of mocha per day.

I’ve seen so many of these. Not that they aren’t great and lovely and all that, but why are you spending your personal time to do something you aren’t being paid to do when Starbucks should be proving training guides to new employees? Genuinely curious. It’s super kind of you, but also seems like you guys are enabling Starbucks Corporate to not provide adequate training materials.

I totally understand where you're coming from! but from my perspective, it wouldn't be helpful to just wait around for someone else (corporate) to do it, especially if it's something that I think is necessary now. I'd rather be proactive about making my store the kind of place where I want to work everyday- even if I'm not getting paid for it, it still is worth it to do fun creative projects that make other baristas / customers smile, or make my coworkers jobs easier, or contribute in any way to creating a positive environment. And I really like making things like this; it's fun for me! Also Starbucks does make a lot of training guides- I've trained new hires for other companies and sbux by far makes it the easiest. I also understand that we don't all have the same experience working here; my store is really focused on making partners feel welcome and appreciated; I wouldn't have made this if I didn't feel that way about my store.

Fair enough. Sometimes quality of life is worth it. I imagine having floundering green beans makes the job harder and it’s easier to just get the job done right yourself with good training materials.

I guess I’m just to the point with late-state-dystopian-capitalism-the-billionaire-space-boys-are-Marie-Antoinette-we-all-know-how-that-ended that I won’t do a single solitary thing I’m not being explicitly paid to do and if the business burns down because of it too damn well. Pay me.

That's lovey but as an opener I can tell you that half that stuff is left for me to do in the morning. I would absolutely adore your closing team and shower your with love. I used to have greater closers but they are no longer with us and our SM did not make our current ones accountable for anything. Only backup I for sure have is lemonade but really how hard is that to make on the fly?? 😡
iindiieecindiee 3 points 2y ago
Such a great idea! I might use this for my chew closers..I’m the primary closing shift and I know it’s over whelming for new partners who have never closed and this will help.
The pars however would be tweaked just a little. For my store my batch guidance is waaaaay more than that. At least 10 pitchers of VSC at all times throughout the day , 4 backup mochas, at lease 30 pitchers of lemonade, and all the whips.

I wish we could just get toddy’s for the VSC

could you explain your abbreviations on the third pic please?
Ashamed_Band_2784 [OP] 4 points 2y ago
sure! so 2T 3G 4V for Americanos means that a Tall would get 2 shots of espresso, a Grande gets 3, etc. Inside the chart, that's the syrup pumps / espresso shots for each size depending on whether it's hot or iced. so a venti hot drink gets 5 pumps of syrup and 2 shots, but a venti iced gets 6 pumps and 3 shots. does that help? TGV is tall, grande, venti. the numbers are how many pumps / shots.

This is so helpful! I just got promoted to Trainer and Shift, I can’t wait to share these with my partners 💕
strangeyeena 2 points 2y ago
I just started and my store never empties the ice bins? We actually refill them at our closings?
navkabar 4 points 2y ago
they should be emptied at some point during opening or closing to be sanitized... that's a lil sus if youre right
Improvmomolyfe 1 points 2y ago
*Anything blonde, gets one less pump
Ashamed_Band_2784 [OP] 4 points 2y ago
I actually don't think we're doing that anymore! They said we should for a while and then they were like nevermind because it wasn't being done consistently enough!! so just normal for blonde!!

I made closing and opening lists for my shifts because my entire team is new. Also made a lead list because I'm training up one of my people before I officially get her certified. I'll be making a mid list this week when I get the time. I'm also in the process of writing out a clean play explanation list since I'm never in for closing and we only have one person closing.
