This..
We have a partner who, until recently, worked closing shifts. Since she just graduated from hs and is preparing to leave for college, she has been working morning shifts.. much to my chagrin. To begin with she is one of my SM's tweener hires who she praises endlessly for basically managing to walk and talk at the same time which has led to her thinking that she knows it all (she's been with us less than a year). Then add to that the fact that she can't seem to understand how to work the morning flow. ie she is used to solo bar in the evenings which leads to me finding her standing in my way every time I turn around after placing a beverage or two on the cold bar or MOP hand-off. I can't step away for a second without her automatically grabbing my bar even though I have cups lined up ready to start making. This is just one of the behaviors that drive me nuts when I have to work with her but I have been trying to be patient. The thing that threw me of the deep end today because it has been going on EVERY SINGLE SHIFT is the fact that she seems to think it is perfectly acceptable to take out her phone and text while working. So basically she will make a drink and send a text, make a drink and send a text. And this is in the middle of peak, to boot. This was going on today right in front of one of the shifts, albeit our newest shift, but even so she didn't say a blessed thing. When we had a break in drinks I followed the shift in the back and asked her when she was going to say something because, frankly, I am done being held to a different standard. I can fucking guarantee you that if I was the one doing that I sure as hell would be on the receiving end of some consequences.
Tenured partners... Do you find a double standard applies???
