My barista trainer had me make a flat white when I was training on hot bar. I was able to get the white dot in the middle and she was like "Wow that is a good job for a first time."

Properly foaming the milk is key. Make sure it’s whole, make sure you aerate the milk for 1-3 seconds and make sure you get that paper tearing noise. Groom the milk and pour it over your shots using a pencil-wide stream of milk in the center. One of the most important steps is to be confident in your pour. Good luck 💚
