Honestly, I stopped fake laughing after a customer repeatedly asked for a million dollars as a joke because I couldn’t muster the energy to laugh the first time she said it

I have a similar customer at my store. I go what can i get for you today and then he says a million dollars. I always forget his face because he doesn't come by too often so he always gets me.

I take advantage of when customers make this joke. I told a customer she won the lottery because she got our last everything bagel and she was like "do I get a million dollars?"

"... Unfortunately you owe me $6.25, we'll see you at the window!"

Apparently some people at my location get upset when they’re told they took the last item because they think it indicates freshness, even though everything we have comes from a freezer 💔

Was it a joke? They were probably just trying to be funny…. Seems like it was taken as an offensive statement when it should have been responded to in an humorous way that left both sides in a positive state. “Well I could sell you an entire bucket but my manager probably wouldn’t let me” or something as a response. If things like this frustrate you its definitely not a job your gonna wanna keep for much longer. Just wait til someone says something actually offensive.
