what’s the pay rate when you get rehired?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by technicolourjpg
are you defaulted to your starting rate when first hired or the hourly rate you had when you last worked for the company?
i’m thinking of submitting my two weeks soon because school is getting busy and my SM told me the minimum amount of hours i have to be scheduled per week to continue working is “24hrs over 3/4 days” which is way more than what i was told when first hired (min 12hrs/week)
i’m likely not going to be returning but if i do it’ll be within the next 1-3 years if that matters in regards to my standing with the company.
background info:
i’m in canada and i’ve been with sbux for ~2 years and my starting rate when i was first hired was $14.1/hr. after the raise early june my current rate is i believe either $14.7 or $15.3/hr (i legit am not sure because i did the math on my last few pay cheques after the raise and some it’s $14.7 and others it’s $15.3 ??? havent asked SM about it and my rate won’t update on teamworks)
thanks and appreciate any accounts from personal experience or links to resources!

I would ask for a transfer, talk to another local manager to see if they’d be better willing to work with your schedule. Or maybe look into an LOA.

to my knowledge an LOA only gives a max 30 days of unpaid leave for every 3 years or smthing? might take one to finalize my decision and sort stuff out with a potentiometer transfer as you suggested. but thank you for the advice!

Wouldnt worry about the rate. If you come back you can always come back asking for a bit higher than minimum due to experience. Also if you come back 3 years later the minimum wage will probs be higher than you are making now.
