Unfortunately managers are allowed to deny availability if it doesn’t fit with store needs (they can fire you for this!). You could try to transfer to a store that needs mid shifts or just quit but it sounds like it might not work out at your store.

I knew I was going to have to be flexible but i feel like I have to fit things around my schedule, I only work 2 days a week and I was always available before to pick up shifts but now I’m just not & I feel bad. At my old job my manager nvr asked me to pick up any shifts & I always worked what I was scheduled, not sure if my manager just never schedules enough ppl or just lets everyone call out bc he knows I’ll pick up the shift. Whenever my manager asks for me to come in , they’re like “you’re off the rest of the week “ , idk I just can’t schedule many things bc my days off change all the time, and I’m never put on the schedule. Just wish I knew this before applying /:

Sounds like you don’t have a good store manager. They can ask you to cover the shift but if you say no then that’s it. I’ve had store managers say I don’t have to explain why I can’t come in on a day off. Do you want to work more than 2 days a week and he won’t schedule you? If so, I would definitely recommend transferring stores to a store that would actually accommodate your hours. I know some stores only schedule baristas for 18-22 hours per week but if it’s 2 4 hour shifts that’s really low.

He even goes as far as calling my mom while I’m sleeping asking her to tell me to call him bc he needs coverage??. I just always feel pressured to come in!
