Using sick time and finding coverage (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Rinallo22
So I am scheduled around 3-4 shifts a week, and I am okay with that. The last 2 weeks I have gotten coverage for one of my shifts, the others, I showed up and worked. I’ve been a partner for almost 2 years and I NEVER call off without finding coverage, and if I don’t find anyone, I work my shift. I have plenty of sick time and mentally I have not been all here due to personal reasons, and My manager met with me and told me it wasn’t okay that I am only working a minimal amount (2-3 days), even if I’m finding coverage. Again, I never call off and When I am working, I do my job correctly and follow Starbucks policies. I have a second job that I just got recently, and my availability there is completely different and doesnt Interfere with my Starbucks availability. Now I’m afraid that if I find coverage for a shift If needed she’s gonna wanna talk to me again and probably fire me. What are my options?

I’d call partner resources. You shouldn’t be told not to call out sick and if you’re finding coverage for your shifts that should not be an issue. Why is your SM upset you’re working a little less than normal? We’ve had partners work only one or two shifts a week bc they are stay at home moms or have another full time job. Like that’s a weird thing to be upset about. If anything it affects you more than her bc you get paid less while she still has the same amount of coverage. This is all very weird.
