i’ve been at starbucks for 2 weeks now and i was wondering if anyone has some sort of cheat sheet/tips for navigating register? i am learning register pretty quickly, but there were a few things i was struggling with yesterday when working dto.

when it’s slow and you are up front maybe practice some made up orders to put in? that’s what i did

one thing you could maybe do is take pictures of the register on your phone so you could just kinda glance at them in your own time? I’m not sure if you’re allowed to do that but I don’t see why not? but tbh for me where certain things are becomes almost like a reflex, after doing it a while you start to remember like which region of the page certain things are so your eyes automatically go in that direction, it’s honestly just a matter of practice and doing it often enough to know it unconsciously. you’ll get the hang of it! btw never feel shy to ask customers to just hold on a minute while you’re looking for things on the screen btw, I know some people get annoyed when we repeat things a lot or take a couple seconds between orders, but I imagine they’ll be a whole lot more annoyed when they get the wrong order bc we didn’t confirm it with them or take the time to look for the modifications lmao, so they can just deal with it ;)

What were you struggling with?

i mainly kept struggling with figuring out where certain customizations were. it just feels like i have to go through all the screens to find things. it might be because i have only worked dto once before yesterday, but i was just really struggling to keep up with the pace people were ordering things at :(
