Keto is such a meme. It may work for some, but the majority of people I've met who try to go keto either fail miserably or just think they're in ketosis while they really aren't. At the end of the day, many people could benefit from the lifestyle. Even if they're not in ketosis, they cut most carbs out, sugar being very important to cut out. Although, the same goal could be reached by just having a balanced diet and exercising regularly, which would be way less restrictive.
Also: I did the math, and a venti latte made with heavy cream has over 1,800 calories. There's no way anyone is gonna burn that off.

The issue isn’t the keto diet. It’s the fact that most societies have evolved so much from that type of eating it’s very hard to sustain. Agriculture has existed for thousands of years, and the foods that it has created are part of nearly every cuisine on Earth. Also, industrialization in the last couple hundred years has allowed this food to be mass produced and hence cheaper to consume. Once they added sugar to it in the late 19th and early 20th century, it was game over.

True, but meat is also mass produced these days, especially beef and chicken. However, like you mentioned, there's sugar in everything these days, so overcoming the sugar addiction that our food culture encourages is difficult.

This predates keto. It was recommended in the Atkins diet too. Either way, it’s part of the low-carb lifestyle.

I have encountered this multiple times, butter in the coffee. I've worked at other coffee places too, they've asked there. First time I heard it I laughed, now I'm mostly intrigued since I am devoted to cream. Butter must be the next step in chasing the dragon

I used to have a regular, we called him, “venti pad o’ butter latte” guy. 🤦♀️
MatchingColors9 points1y ago
This is more common than you might think
Solid_Wish [OP]2 points1y ago
Apparently so! This was my first time getting one so I was like wtf?
MatchingColors1 points1y ago
Yeah I personally was appalled the first time I heard about this, but someone I know swears by it. Hahaha I still would be very hesitant to try

I BELIEVE that this is a thing in some areas of Africa and South America. Could be totally wrong or gaslit lol
RhyRhu6 points1y ago
It’s a keto thing.
PhenomenalPhoenix4 points1y ago
Actually it’s not a keto thing, a lot of people who do keto drink it because it fits the diet but butter coffee started out for the flavor and texture not for keto
RhyRhu3 points1y ago
Oh that's cool to know! Thanks for the neat fact c:

elainafromthemoon2 points1y ago
I remember doing this a few years ago when this trend kicked off, (Portland, Oregon area for reference) and oh my god I made so many coffees with butter. It’s a keto thing.
