Thinking about applying.. is it worth it? (self.starbucksbaristas)

There's a couple of local branches that were hiring a while back.. offering $16/hr with benefits for full time. Pre pandemic i managed a small local coffee shop for 2 years, I've been a stay at home mom for a year and now we're trying to move out of state so I'm looking for a way to help save some money. I'm basically just looking for the highest paying job I can find that won't have a long training period and its going to be temporary.. i know people say it sucks, but, how bad is it? Pros, cons? I had a lot of rough patches with my last job but it was mostly all due to small business small town drama.

Training takes around 4 to 5 days and after that you’re on your own. If you’ve already worked at a cafe, you’re halfway there. If they’re offering $16 as a barista, I’d take it. I just got a raise after working here for two years and got $12/hr, I’d love if they started us at $14/15.

It’s a fun job and the people you get to meet is always a plus, but it’s a job that’ll suck you in and you’ll also have your fair share of awful people. If you really need it, go ahead but if you can hold off a little so you can find something better then do so.

Starbucks fucking sucks to work for. It’s literally a cult. Save yourself

If they’re offering $16 an hour? Do it. That plus tips is pretty darn good. Our shifts only make $13 and our baristas make $10.

Honestly depends on cost of living in that area. I make around 16 an hour at my Starbucks, but minimum wage in my city is 15 because CoL is so high.

I only make closer to 16 because i got the raise last year for working w the company for 5 years now

If 16 is more than the average pay in the area I’d say go for it, it’s not the worse as a temporary job but don’t get sucked in to staying with the company.

That’s also true!! Oklahoma’s cost of living is much lower than that so that sounds a lot better to me than it does for most other places. Def something to keep in mind!
