Bar tips?: Sequencing (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by NaturallyShady22
What are some tips to sequence properly/better and increase speed?

Set yourself up. Do as man first steps as you can before moving on, and while the machine are doing the dirty, finish another one.

I always do Frappuccinos first until I'm ready to blend, then I'll finish a hot espresso and finish blending the Frappuccino and while that finishes, the hot drink is ready to finish.

When it comes to Frappuccinos and refreshers, I'll start them, finish the frappuccino and while the blender is going, finishing the refresher.

All of it comes down to muscle memory though. Once you establish that rhythm, you're body will fall into a natural pace.

Though, I have a slight advantage because I work at a Tarbucks and we do not get the dumb drinks you get. While we do get slammed, they're all made to recipe or one or two easy mods. (We lie through our teeth to avoid doing any tik tok drinks because hell no yo.)

I think my biggest issue is not knowing how to integrate both bars when sequencing.

So, are you saying that if you had a caramel macchiato, a mocha frap and a refresher. You would prep the frap first, start the macchiato and then do your refresher while the frap is blending and then finish up your macchiato before heading back to finish frap?

-Pull the sticker & put on cup

-Pump syrup

-Start milk

-& queue shots

-- While the milk is going, go ahead & repeat that process again. You should be able to pump ur syrups & set up ur milk for the next drink

—Connect drink A while you steam the milk & queue the shots for drink B

—Before connecting drink B, try to set up drink C

-I’m sorry I tried. I wish I could just show u irl

Thanks for explaining your process, I think sequencing on hot bar is fine for me. It's more so when I have to go back and forth between hot and cold bar. What is the proper sequencing for that?

there isnt proper sequencing for that bc technically we arent supposed to do it (bc no one who makes the rules would survive on the floor for longer than 30 seconds). for anything on cold bar, youre supposed to finish the drink completely before pulling another sticker. obviously that will not work with a cafe full of people and a line of cars wrapped around the building, lol. i dont rlly have a set pattern, i just always make sure im doing something. i never wait for shots to pull or milk to steam or fraps/foam to blend. set it and forget it is what i say. i dont need to remember everything i have going bc ill cycle back around in a few seconds anyway.

I wish I had better advice for how to go between cold & hot. That’s something I struggle with as well. I only ever try to do two to three drinks at a time but other than that I have no tips:( it’s a struggle

Honestly? I just go by a rule that if it’s a trap I start with, I blend it and put whatever’s needed in the cup but make like two hot drinks before circling back to finish it. By then someone might migrate from the back or warming to finish the frap for me
