During the pandemic Starbucks was one of the only fast food chains (that's what we are, don't lie to yourself: DT times, sugary everything, generally very young entry level staff, high turnover rate) to expand their menu while other places reduced theirs, much to the chagrin of baristas. I see these shortages as sort of a karma rebalancing of our supply chain reducing our menu to a more appropriate size.

Think of it as pre-frappuccino days. I remember my boss telling me there were only 6 drinks when he was working at Starbucks.

Whenever someone ask why we don’t have something I say “they ate it all!” It helps to point to the very long line of people and screaming children behind them. Some people get a good laugh out of it

I'm from Canada and also haven't worked for the company since October so I'm a little out of the loop. Why have you guys been having such an issue with keeping things stocked? Has head office given any explanation or is it just "warehouse shortages?" I can't imagine how stressful it must be!

This is exactly what I thought Starbucks should look like when the pandemic started. We \*should\* have a limited menu. We \*should\* be encouraging customers not to come to Starbucks until the pandemic is over. We do not need anything more than classic, vanilla, caramel, and mocha.

So will customers go to no syrup before hitting the sugar free syrups? Though I can see the disgust in someone’s face in just mentioning it

Damn 3?? I mean we just ran out of caramel syrup but we at least still have peppermint, brown sugar, vanilla and sf vanilla. But on another note i bet it makes making lattes easier right!?

From what I was told was that a lot of the delivery guys didn’t really want to work anymore, I’m not sure how true that is but I have noticed every time we get a delivery we get a different guy every time.

At what point do we just close the stores down?

Canadian partner here. We get shorted like 1 - 2 things at a time i feel so bad for american partners. Like i knew it was worse there but not on this level worse. Customers get mad and act like I personally attacked them when I say we're still out of sriracha I cant imagine how they act when they find out they only have 3 syrup options.

idk why but the shortage has made me want to put like 6 vanilla on the stand

Is this a supply chain issue or what is the main reason this is happening? I mean COVID is still a thing but honestly hadn’t regularly been going to the bux and then got confused why it seemed like stuff was out- to which I don’t bother to harass the barista that has already had 10,000 customers yell at them lol

Why is there a syrup shortage?

Really a shortage or is company just trying to save money? Everywhere you go there’s a shortage. Come on Starbucks,make something happen to solve this situation.
