hi all! i’m getting my first tattoo today and have a 4-11:45 shift tomorrow. just wondering if anyone has any advice or insight as to what i should expect for tattoo aftercare while working? i.e. any positions or tasks i should ask to avoid, any supplies i should bring for washing/moisturizing, or should i just keep it wrapped? for reference the tattoo is about 2-3 inches on the back of my left arm, right above my elbow. thanks!

Hey,
bring aquaphor to work with you. Be gentle doing dishes, you don't want all those chemicals splashing up and hitting you. If you're the one doing breakdowns or any disruptive cleaning tasks (and this is good general safety advice, not just post tattoo) always spray the rag with the chemical, don't spray the surface.
Hope the ink came out well 🤗

Just keep it wrapped and you’ll be fine. Another option to explore is ordering your own roll of Saniderm (if you plan on getting more work done while working at Starbucks) because you can leave it on for up to 6 days post inkday. We have lots of partners who get work done in way more risky spots in my store, so back of the arm will be fine. Just don’t elbow anyone and you’ll be good! ;)

You’ll be okay! I recently got a big tattoo done on my forearm. When I was on Customer Support I just did the dishes with my other arm. Best of luck

Saniderm saved me, but don't fully immerse your arms in water as it can cause chemicals or bacteria to leech into it!

If you can get a wrap like Tegaderm, you can keep it on for a couple days and it’ll keep it protected from all the grossness that is Starbucks. If you can’t though, take aquaphor or a travel sized lubriderm lotion (unscented aveeno is good too). The hand soap we use would probably be fine, but I would take my own tbh. The dial gold hand soap is super good! Definitely ask your artist for help too!

keep. the. saniderm. on. omg dude i got a full forearm tattoo and it’s been healed for a while now, but sometimes the sanitizer bucket still makes it itchy 🥲 also moisturize frequently!
