what do i do? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by flamingfae
i recently became shift, like i said in my last few posts (lol), but lately things have been really bad at my store. shifts are stepping down and people are leaving and i’ve realized how little i’ve been trained and how bad it really is here. i’m drained and burned out but soon there will only be 3 shifts, including me, but i can’t do this anymore? i don’t know if i should just step down or just quit and hope i find a job (i’ve been looking) but i’ve been loosing sleep and have been exhausted about this place.

i hear stories of stores with better management and would like to transfer but i haven’t gotten a call back and my manager doesn’t really listen to their staff and i’m stuck but i’ll feel bad for my partners if i just leave them swamped with work because i burned out

what should i do?

Do what is best for your mental health! I’m not sure what your financial position is but maybe try to get something lined up first. I’m also a SSV or used to be ( just put my two weeks in ), and I went through something similar. Just know that if you SM isn’t capable of acknowledging partners now, they won’t in the future either. Hope this helps.

Something I feel every partner needs to be reminded of now and again is that you don’t owe the company or your store anything. It’s not your responsibility to stay in a failing store just to try to keep it afloat. Do what’s best for you — if you really need a job and this is your best option, stick it out and hopefully the store will be given the attention it needs. If you can find another job and you think you’ll be happier there, take it.
