How long do I have to wait after quitting to reapply? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by lalaland_lauren
I’m currently a 266 and I’m moving to practically a different county, and my SM wants me to stay at that store and won’t let me transfer due to “time and attendance issues” which translate to two bs write-ups. He also hasn’t been the kindest with me and I no longer feel comfortable with him as my SM and I’ve made it clear to him.

On top of not letting me transfer to a store that’s closer to where I’ll soon be living, he’s denied almost all the time off I’ve requested leading up to the move, two days off for my moms birthday, then the weekend off a week later for MY birthday, the following weekend to retrieve what’s left of my things at my parent’s house 250 miles away, and then a month later when I’ll be out of town. He only approved the weekend I’ll be moving which is a week after I get my things.

I understand the point of needing coverage for the weekends but I wouldn’t request off unless it was important, and he’s making this extremely difficult. I’m thinking about just quitting and reapplying to the new store I want to go to, and talking to the SM there about the whole situation, but I’m not sure about how long the process will take and if there’s a time limit for how long I have to wait. Any advice?

I would start applying the second you’re out. I quit and moved to another store a couple months later,m. Just be honest with your new SM about why you left

are you on a final written warning and if you are when did you get it? because that’s the only reason why he wouldn’t let you transfer. i’m an SM so here’s the tea:

1) you need to go on the partner hub and fill out the transfer request form. technically your SM and DM need to sign off on it but if your SM isn’t being helpful you should go directly to your DM.

2) if your DM isn’t cool then call partner resources or business ethics and compliance and explain to them why your SM is making you uncomfortable and the issues you’re having.

3) if the SM that you’re transferring to is understanding and is cool with you transferring and their DM is cool with you transferring then you shouldn’t have to quit. the SM & DM in your new district should be able to talk to your current SM & DM and coke to an agreement.

I am currently NOT on a final warning. My first write up was in may I believe, and my most recent one was mid June.

I got my first written warning for coming in an hour and a half late for my night shift due to car issues, the first time I’ve ever been that late and I was waiting for a tow truck. Because of how he was being, assuming I was just calling out despite me saying I was still going in, I ended up pushing the car to the closest pep boys and got an Uber from there which was quicker than waiting for the tow truck.

My second written was for not signing the covid sign-in book the second I walked in (I had to blow my nose really bad bc drip so I went straight to the sink in the back), and he wrote me up the week after it happened with another store manager as witness most likely because I had already told him I wasn’t comfortable with him at this point. The only other time I had been coached on this was ONCE by a shift when we opened, and because a lot of people at my store just gossip in the back during open, I’m usually the only one up front doing DTO, DTR, DTB, and warming for about 45min-1hr until they see me struggling.

I have a disability that also leads to some callouts and leaving early twice since I started in November, though it’s rarely happened with my new meds, but I’ve only had documented coaching I believe once about it. I know he holds grudges against me for said disability because of incapacitations that impact work, but I can’t do anything about it. I also made this very aware to him when I interviewed with him.
