Im so unhinged at my job already and I’m extremely passive aggressive and I have drink making tendencies towards people that cross me that are terrifying. This would simply make me the most dangerous person in the world.

There was a guy who came into my old store who was legit a nonce. Been in the papers, caught with some really vile stuff etc. Always came in on school holidays too, never any other time of year. I'd always give him decaf skimmed or whatever I had lying around and I'd always make it terribly. Wanted a latte? You got a skinny cappuccino bitch. Deal with it. I also knew a guy who put rinse water in. Nothing dangerous but enough to make his drink gross. Absolute legend.

I like how Europe customer service and retail is. No one needs to crack a fake smile, workers are allowed to sit, if a customer is being rude all the employees and employers will just kick the customer out. Decades of "The customer is always right" has bred some of the most entitled people as they just get rewarded for complaining and behaving badly which further reinforces a customer to behave that way.

Yeah, I try to be very adamant about not rewarding bad behavior, but it’s difficult here because of the “customer is always right” mentality in the service industry. At a certain point, I don’t CARE if you’re right, you’re being an ass and the situation should be addressed as such.

I know recovery cards are supposed to be for pacifying people who throw a fit, but I (a barista) reserve them for customers who have an issue (e.g. we fucked up or we’re out of something) and are still pleasant and often don’t even complain. I just want them to know I appreciate them in this vast sea of entitled dicks.

I promoted myself to customer today... had enough stress working between 2 jobs and a shit manager along with new green beans that didnt get proper training

The customer even holds more power in the job than a worker. A worker complains? Management either blows it off or considers suspension if management is self-centered enough. A customer complains? Management suddenly gets the entire store to change things up a bit or suspends people over one customer. So being a customer is definitely a promotion as it gives more freedom and power.

Agreed 100%

I used to work at a BBQ joint where we pretty much had this policy. We sold out of everything every day so we really didn’t need to take shit from abusive customers when there were enough nice customers to sell-out daily. It was the most cathartic job in the world.
