How far in advance do I need to start planning for an international transfer? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Blue-Jay27
Hello! I recently was hired, kind of planning for this to be a short term job since I'm moving from the U.S to Australia in January. However, reading the partner guide I was given, it seems like international transfers are possible. It just says that I have to have "significant lead time" and that for regular transfers it's sixty days in advance.

Has anyone here successfully done an international transfer? Or is at least more familiar with the process?

I'm actually interested in transferring from a US store to a store in Japan when i study abroad next year, so I would also be interested to know!

It may be possible but starbucks wont pay for your visa.

On which case if they do allow it you shouldnt have to much of a issue

You can't *transfer* internationally because the systems and everything are different. You would have to quit and reapply, even if you are a citizen of the country you are moving to.

Otherwise for a standard transfer, just make sure your SM is in the loop on everything. They need to know the date you're leaving and you can talk to them about whether or not it's possible on their end to do an international transfer somehow - it shouldn't be possible, because AFAIK Starbucks doesn't transfer partners internationally (maybe US to CAN and vice versa but not otherwise) but maybe your SM knows something!

Does Australia even have Starbucks? That said, I’m under the impression that American partners can only transfer to Canada.

They do, although not that many. The partner guide said that any "company-owned market" so I assume it's allowed?

As early as you can. I started mine well over a month ago as I move back to college in two weeks and they still haven’t figured stuff out
