Quit. I worked at Starbucks for a VERY long time, and though I made some life long friends, that job grinds you to paste.

EDIT: there are good reasons to work for the Celestial Stag. If you can afford to work part time, not get too invested, need a bit of money while you go to school, etc, etc. by all means, do the damn thing. It was a great place to meet people and understand how the world works for me. Starbucks just has a tendency to give you just enough that you can’t leave, and not enough to thrive; and I mean that in pay and also labor. Being too exhausted from shifts to even enjoy myself beyond the job was common for me, and I worked there before tiktok. Use your time off to better yourself. Make connections there that will help you move on. Be skeptical of what they’re pushing. They don’t treat their employees as well as they say, the coffee isn’t good by any real measure, and they’re not good for the environment, nor the farms or farmers they source from. If you like coffee, get into a third wave coffee shop. If you like service (and I do, it’s a good skill to have and I love people) get into a restaurant or bar. The tips are better, by a wide margin. If you like manual labor, find a place that will pay you better than SB for your sweat. If your smart, find financial aid and go to school. Don’t view it as a career, use it as a space to work on things until you find yourself and a better job. Never stop trying to get more from your work than your employer gives you and be weary of the ones who you get stuck at. Take the stock.

this is rlly great advice thank u so much, this job is just to help me pay for school so i’m going to try to change my availability and work more part time. this job is absolutely not worth the toll it takes on my mental health

This is me right now. Almost 2 months in. I wasn’t really trained by anyone (but I was a regular turned green bean)

Well today I found that 3 “Partners” have basically been talking shit about me behind my back who I constantly work with.
The supervisor told me about this and that they reported it to manager.

Honestly it just makes me not want to work here anymore, let alone give them my business as a customer.

Some people might tell you to stick it out like a warrior, but I understand if you’re at that exhausted ‘walk away’ stage. Go ahead and leave if you really want to, but first find a stable replacing job if you need to :)

The post right below this on my feed is a person who is excited about just getting hired. If that excitement seems forever away, it may be time to quit

Try changing your availability and talking to your SM so you don’t have to work so early. You could also look into taking a personal leave of absence while you deal with things - that would be unpaid tho. You might even be able to get a medical leave of absence if it’s mental health related and you’ll get paid for that time off. Talk to your doctor about that. And make sure it’s a good doctor that you trust bc they have to sign off on things. I have a friend that took a medical LOA for mental health issues and he had to go to a new doctor that essentially didn’t believe him and reported inaccurate things so he had a lot of things fuck up with his leave and getting paid. It worked out in the end but it was really frustrating.
