And you think just say that to her? 😬
cdilla120731 points1y ago
yes, just be straight up. you’ll be totally fine
Vegetable_Turnover5120 points1y ago
Honestly ya it's her job to understand especially because you're pregnant
briannuzzi6 points1y ago
that’s what I would do! especially since they’re the ones who kept pushing your training back, you can’t just sit around and wait for them yknow? and yeah being far along in pregnancy you’re probably way better off with a remote job anyway since I’d imagine the work at Starbucks would be way too taxing on you and your baby!!
MoonLover1079257 points1y ago
They kept pushing you back. It won’t be a surprise and if it is, it shouldn’t be.
Hot_Instruction_787736 points1y ago
Simply tell her, “Thank you for the opportunity but a better position has presented itself.” Congratulations on your pregnancy and new job. It sounds like working from home is prefect for you right now.
Malevolent_barnacle3 points1y ago
This is the best answer ⬆ short sweet to the point, and professional. Make sure you send an email, so you have proof.
kitcat121031 points1y ago
Honestly, just say you found a better job for you that pays more
Cokedeko16 points1y ago
Ghost them. Seriously. You're brand new so you don't owe them anything, and they clearly don't respect your time enough to keep their end of the commitment. Just take the better job and don't look back.
lulu40603 points1y ago
Ten out of ten do not recomend just ghosting them. That is how you get permanently put on a "do not hire" list.
One of my friends, when they were newly 18, applied and got a job at an Amazon warehouse. They ended up getting a better job offer and just never showed up to their first day of training at Amazon. My friend never thought twice about it, until almost ten years and two degrees later when they instantly got rejected for a managment job they were easily qualified for. When they reached out to the hiring manager, the reason they were declined is due to them ghosting the company almost ten years prior.
OP, follow other people's advice of emailing your resignation so their is proof later on down the line. Additionally, keep it short, sweet, and professional. Good luck with your new job and the new baby!!!

Ok? Then just go along to the next shitty job and apply there.
The “company” isn’t the only job that exists in the world.
DaybreakNightfall8 points1y ago
They will definitely survive. You do you.
Edit: Just be straight up with them. They will appreciate it a lot, trust me.
jklmnopedy6 points1y ago
This is totally on them, not you. Even if it wasn't, you would still be completely justified in saying you found a (MUCH) better paying job that works better for your situation. Starbucks is cruel to the body, you don't need that pregnant or postpartum.

You’re fine, literally most new hires aren’t even accepting the job offer right now. Good luck on your new and better and less stressful job! And the rest of your pregnancy 💕
Millerboycls092 points1y ago
They kept you on the hook for too long.
Take the remote job that gives you better flexibility to be at home with your kid! Good luck.

It’s through target but they don’t have a lot of remote positions. I would recommend looking at CVS pharmacy, Gopuff, and on indeed. It took me about two months to find it but I know there’s a lot out there. Wishing you the best of luck ❤️
breeedaaa1 points1y ago
Next question, I’m supposed to train tomorrow and I will be telling her once she calls me I found a different opportunity.. this is shitty probably, but does anyone know how long I’ll be able to use my partner number before I’m “fired” or “quit” from them?
SpreadsheetSlut1 points1y ago
Just tell them directly: you kept looking for work since they kept pushing your training, and you found something that works better. They need the feedback that they lost a hire to poor organization.
Don’t listen to people here talking about “do not hire” lists. That’s BS. There’s no list, companies can barely keep their own shit together, let alone talk to each other.
tigertub1 points1y ago
If they kept pushing back your training knowing that you are pregnant like what else can you do! There's a really clear deadline on when you are able to complete that training and they didn't make it!
