Iced coffee pour over procedure? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by LeftSleeveRolled
Today someone insisted on a decaf iced coffee pour over. The watering can guys (forget the word right now) that we use for pour overs have iced coffee measurements, so I used that, then realised that that fills it halfway. I filled the rest of the cup up with ice because (with normal iced coffee) we ice down what we pull from the brewer before putting it into a cup and adding more ice, but should I have just put in cold water to the top line and then ice?

According to the beverage resource manual you should add ice to the third line if the cup before brewing into the cup. You should use the same amount of coffee for the hit size, and the iced lines on the kettle. Top off with ice after brewing.

An older document I read a few years ago while trying to find out the answer to this called it a "goose neck pitcher". The scoop of coffee beans for the Bunn brewer is also a "spoodle" and can be 1,2,3 or 1,2,4 depending on the configuration!

What I used to do since the instructions seemed to not produce enough coffee:

Ice the cup and prepare the pour over with the appropriate coffee for a hot beverage, and water for a size up. Bloom your grounds then continue the pour over in the single circular motion until the coffee fills up the iced cup. If they wanted cream and whatnot, I'd put it in the cup on top of the ice to make sure it mixes, but before the coffee.

Edit: we had a lot of customers who complained it was too weak (regular iced coffee is brewed double strength) so we'd 1.5-2x the grounds amount. Not standard but we gave the customers what we wanted.

I didn't even know we did those 😭😭 if someone ever asked for one I was just like 😌 sorry we dont have this. Want an Americano instead?

Yeah. This dude was super picky too-wanted it double filtered and ground for French press

I’d like to compare the flavor of a decaf iced pour over with the flavor of a decaf iced americano. If you drink it black like I do it’ll be different but after classic and cream?

other ppl have answered your question but i can’t stop laughing at the watering can 😭

The standard way to do an iced pour over is on partner hub too if this person becomes a reg and you need the recipe in order to train with

Yes. When putting iced coffee in the pitcher, it’s 1L of the brew, a venti scoop of ice, and filled the rest of the way with cold water. The same process with a pour over iced coffee.

This isnt correct. Iced teas get a venti scoop and water, but coffee is ice to the top.

only cold brews and iced teas are cut with water. iced coffees get ice to the 2L line

I totally got iced coffee and iced tea mixed up lmao
