Acne is the worst. I had acne all throughout middle school and high school, it looked so bad. I had to go on accutane to get it to go away and I look back at my license picture and my face is all red from acne.
I hope you can safely go back to wearing no masks soon so that your skin can clear up again!

right!!! so exhausting. i can’t complain about masks too much tho because it’s better than putting other partners and our customers at risk

People don’t realize how damaging acne can be on self esteem! If it’s already a struggle, acne can just makes it 10x worse and makeup doesn’t even help because you can still see the bumps and texture. I used to refuse to leave the house without makeup on because of how bad it is, so I really hope you can clear up your skin again!

thank you so much🥺 a lot of people in my life tell me to suck it up because “it’s life” but acne has already controlled a large portion of my life and i’m so tired of dealing with it

what i've done is worn those hydro whatever acne patches (mighty patches - surface) on my problem areas, since you're technically supposed to use them at night no one is gonna see them when you use them during the day with a mask on. i also use blotting paper to help get rid of any oil build up that can cause acne. it's ok to feel that way and it's not selfish at all! so many ppl have been struggling with this since the beginning of the pandemic:)

i use those!! they help a lot but i notice my scarring is bad with them :(

I had acne because my face produced a lot of oil. I started using oil to remove my makeup and clean my face at night. It sounds backwards, I know, but it’s clean oil. I have been doing it for years. I get a blemish once or twice a year now. Rub oil on your face and then wipe it off with a dry towel. It’s okay if there is a little oil still on your face. My hair and face are a lot less oily.

what kind of oil do you recommend? i’ve actually heard a lot about this but i’m nervous to try🤭
MoonLover107921 points1y ago
I tend to use coconut oil, but I have also used rose and apricot. I didn’t think it would work but I figured I didn’t have much to lose.
deepfriedmeme4201 points1y ago
i used to moisturize with coconut oil and i found that it broke me out. do you follow up with a water based cleanser after, or do you just wash off the oil with water? im so scared of breaking out of what i know because of how sensitive my skin has become.
MoonLover107921 points1y ago
I use a dry towel and remove the oil that way. Some stays on and that is okay. If coconut doesn’t work for you, try apricot. Give it two weeks. Your face needs time to get used to the difference.

have you tried 100% cotton masks?
deepfriedmeme4201 points1y ago
yes i’ve tried every tip possible :(
wildaloofrebel551 points1y ago
The cotton ones are the WORST for me. I ordered silky ones like under armor shirts and they’re so light, breathable, and soft.

i understand the acne struggle, i really do and if i had tips i’d give them to you, but anything is better than spreading this virus anymore
deepfriedmeme4201 points1y ago
yeah i said in one of my responses that it’s better than putting my coworkers at risk

I use a honey based moisturizer on days I work (farmacy makes a good one) honey has some antibacterial properties and its helped with my mask acne. I’m pretty acne prone in general so I feel your pain, friend.

Are you able to see a dermatologist? I have severe acne as well and it gets SO much worse with masks, fortunately we haven’t been mandated to wear them again (yet?). I have a derm appointment set up for next month cuz my skin still hasn’t recovered from a year of mask-wearing. Sorry you are going through this and good luck
deepfriedmeme4201 points1y ago
thank you!! i haven’t been on insurance for a long time so i haven’t been able to see a doctor in a couple of years. however i just got on medicaid so im hoping i can find a dermatologist in the area that can prescribe me an acne medication. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 i’ve been on adapalene since i was 14 and it’s stopped working for me entirely.

What do you wash your masks with? I find washing them with face wash rather than laundry detergent helps a bit 🙁
deepfriedmeme4201 points1y ago
i do use tide sensitive skin, and i heard to try that out!! i’m going to try it😁 thank u for reminding me of the tip
