my sm is starting to have people do that, I just make a point of being like “hey Siri, start a timer for ten minutes” when I walk away with my food and drink. Especially if you ONLY get a ten on your shift, you should get ten minutes of sitting and eating or chilling or whatever u want

Especially when you get that lovely five hour and 45 minutes shift with only a 10. Like I'm 15 minutes away from getting a lunch, so having just that 10 really eats at me.

Lmao they used to do that to me at Chick-fil-A, except it was either 6+ hours and a 30 minute break, or less than 6 hours and no break. And I would get scheduled 5-10:45 :(

Idk, starting your 10 once you have your food and everything together is fair, but unless the rest of your store is ok with it stretching to 15min is kind of a dick move

Can someone actually clarify the break system in the US?
We don’t have 10s in Canada. On a full shift (8 hours) we get two paid 15s and an unpaid 30

It varies from state to state, because of course it does. In CA, it’s as follows: shifts under 5 hours get a paid 10; shifts between 5 and 7 hours get a paid 10 and an unpaid 30; and shifts of 7 hours or more get two paid 10s and an unpaid 30.

people like you are the reason that people end up having to take timers with them on break. the world doesn't revolve around you, your supervisor has other people to send on break and a schedule to keep. don't be THAT person who ruins breaks for the rest of the team.

What a good idea, taking the timer for your 10! I spend probably accumulate a loss of a whole minute of my ten, checking to see if I need to rejoin the circus yet.

neither can i. i go back and forth between iced black coffe, an iced chai, matcha here and there and maybe a caramel doppio, BUT THAT SHIT is sooo good and i would drink it everyday if i could, no questions asked

Me too! I love it over an iced shaken espresso with a couple scoops of vanilla bean powder and a pump of chai! Would highly recommend. Fall in a cup, haha
