Any thoughts about the raise news? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by PandaVike
For those who haven’t seen, check Weekly Communications in the Partner Hub.

I skimmed it this morning but IIRC, partners will get 5% raise in October (beginning Oct 4th I believe) instead of end of year/beginning of new year. Again, sorry I’m not providing more thorough info but I was half-awake when my SM told me to go read it.

Just wondering what others think… also letting people know to go read the update if they haven’t yet.

It's like throwing a bucket of water on a raging house fire imo. In response to other fast food chains (McDonald's, Wendy's, etc) raising their wages, Starbucks is announcing they're raising theirs. BUT it was planned already, and it doesn't even match their competitors' wage increases. Argh.

I feel like I’d be more excited if they announced that the daily markout benefit was becoming permanent.
cyan_reynolds 13 points 1y ago
Agreed. I really have been enjoying that, I honestly forget that it's not a permanent benefit. (That could partially because my old manager didn't care if/when we used our numbers or not, as long as we actually run them in lol.

I think it's interesting that we usually get our raises in January but this year it's in October, a week or so before that huge general strike I keep hearing so much about. Maybe I'm just tired and making connections where there are none though.

That checks out

A joke

My SM was like “you all are getting raises” and I read 5% and was like “ummm”.
BeardiesRule112 25 points 1y ago
Yeah, that 5% ain’t gunna keep anyone lmfao

baristas are going up to $12 or 5%, whichever is higher. no word on ssv yet but they will be getting raises.
EnneagramYogaCoach 8 points 1y ago
SSV’s will be at $15.xx. I think it was 27% higher than starting barista in your market.
PandaVike [OP] 6 points 1y ago
Thank you for clarifying. Like I said I didn’t really retain what I read very well 🙃

I mean, I'll take it but it doesn't really make that much of a difference.
francescugh 15 points 1y ago
they’re raising the minimum wage to $12.. if you’re already making more than that, you’ll get a 5% increase. ssv’s will make the usual 27% more based off their store’s barista wage. i think this is a step in the right direction, by 2024 they want to have a $15 minimum wage. in my area, baristas start at $9 and a lot of them kick ass so im excited for them to receive this increase.
FfierceLaw 6 points 1y ago
So if you make $10, you’re going to $12 immediately, not the $10.50 I thought?
TylerJ716 4 points 1y ago
From reading the weekly update linked in a other reply on this thread, you should be bumped up to $12 yes
FfierceLaw 2 points 1y ago
Cool, thanks! We’re worth that much and more
