So even since I’ve worked at Starbucks, I’ve never worked on a certain day. Got a new manager, and she scheduled me on a day I can’t work, and I vividly remember saying on my availability I can’t work that day. So today when I brought it up, she got defensive saying that it says I can work that day. And later took me off the floor to show me it says I can work on that day. I’m just super mad right now, because I have to find coverage for a shift that I shouldn’t even have been scheduled for, and can’t work. And if I don’t get the shift covered and can’t go, I’ll be written up.
(Also, how do you put your two weeks in?)
Edit :: I really just want to never show up to work again. This manager has made it a living hell, and I hate how much Starbucks has turned into fast food. I don’t like the vibes. At all. I know it’s back to just never show up again, because of a good recommendation (I want to become a server/bartender), but how bad is it really to just never show up again?

whole company is going down the toilet. if you are truly ready to quit, at LEAST tell the manager in writing that you’re quitting. that way if you ever want to come back and work for the siren you won’t be barred from getting hired
Willing-Regret4142 [OP]20 points1y ago
I’ve never quit a job before, do I just tell her I’m quitting and then she will give me the two weeks paper thing? I have no idea how it works 😂 I think I’m going to stick it out for the two weeks, just so it doesn’t affect me long term just dipping
Bbbbyg-siobhan19 points1y ago
You put in writing that you’re putting in your two week notice. It can just be a lined piece of paper with it saying just that then sign it and date it!
Willing-Regret4142 [OP]12 points1y ago
Wow it’s that easy. I love it. Thank you so much for the help :) !!
Bbbbyg-siobhan16 points1y ago
Also! Add you intended last day in there as well and keep a copy for yourself as well🙂
Bubblebutt2171 points1y ago
Also two weeks is ideal to leave with an open door, but it can be sooner if needed. Pro tip: get a job then put your two weeks in
Bubblebutt2171 points1y ago
( manager name here ),
This is my two week notice. ( date ex: Monday, August 2, 2021 ) will be my last day of work. Thank you for all you have taught me. I wish you all the best.
( your name here ) (date you signed)
ZeldaQuest1 points1y ago
Depending on the state, you also do not have to provide a two week notice. I personally have given a: this is my last shift notice (at a retail store, not starbucks) because I had another job lined up that required me to quit my old job before I could start due to non compete issues. However with a manager like that, make sure to have a paper trail and date and sign the notice. Keep a pdf copy for your records too.

Happy cake day! Thx for the guidance!
justkeepswimmingswim39 points1y ago
Personally, I’d write a note (make a photo copy or take a picture), tell your manager verbally, and write an email if you have your SM’s email. Just my advice!
Also, is everyone quitting? This is like the 10th post I’ve seen in 2 days on this sub about someone quitting. 👀
I’m not far behind y’all though.

Just lost our fifth barista, started with 14 partners in the store :) it's honestly batshit insane.
justkeepswimmingswim5 points1y ago
WOW-ZA! Just remember to take care of your own mental and physical health. Managers like to think their shitty leadership falls on you to pick up the slack. Please take care of yourself!
SimoWilliams_1371 points1y ago
Wait, does Starbucks seriously call their hourlies ‘partners’?
How perverse!
mthrowaway3112 points1y ago
it’s because we all own stock in the company so technically we are “partners”
SimoWilliams_1373 points1y ago
No you’re not. That’s not a partnership, though it is cleverly deceptive branding.
reclusivegiraffe1 points1y ago
we have over 40 partners in my store. yikes
Willing-Regret4142 [OP]5 points1y ago
Hate to say this, but yolo. Why would you want to spend your precious time here on earth working for a shit company, with shit managers, and sometimes shit coworkers. Not me that’s for sure 😂
justkeepswimmingswim5 points1y ago
Loooool!!!! You’re not wrong at all. I was teaching preschool before covid and didn’t feel comfortable going back to the classroom (I have a body that does not fare well with infection). Worked at Amazon for a while, eventually that got to me. Ended up at Starbees and I’ve about had it with this place.
Now my goal is to find a remote job because I do not want to be around human beings anymore. I left Amazon because of harassment and mistreatment. Going through it again at Starbucks and dealt with it at every job since getting out of college. Literally always targeted by at least one person. I want to stay home with my dog in pajamas and have minimal human contact.
Also had a really fucked up 6 years on top of all that where person after person treated me like trash. I am very tired. Your reasons are super valid 😂
kaiannepepper2 points1y ago
Yup! I’ve been a partner for 3 years and just had my last day on Monday. I can see the change in the company in just those 3 years and I’m out.

If I’m reading the post correctly, the availability agreement on file says that they are available to work that day, which is what OP’s manager pulled them off the floor to show.

Go up to higher management DM or RM
conniedew2 points1y ago
We had rotating managers. I put my two weeks in by writing it on a post it note and clipping it to the clipboard. I texted the “acting” manager. She replied she wanted to touch base with me and I never heard from her again. I worked my scheduled shifts and then my apps were gone. It really bugs me how bad the management is with this company. As a customer I thought highly of the he BUX but now I have inside knowledge. They better be thankful they had an amazing marketing team at the beginning and their products are addicting.
misscoochi2 points1y ago
not showing up is gonna screw over the other baristas, so definitely give a notice. you can write a letter and just give it to your manager
femalehomosapien185 points1y ago
So? They should have a backup plan. If they csnt work that day they csnt work. What if they have school, another job? A child? Always out yourself first over starbucks. As an old SSV I will always stand behind that

👏👏Sbux just approve to raise barista salaries base paid at 12$ certain locations don't know exactly. 👏👏 And the raise will start October it a long wait 🤦🏻♂️
feisty3141 points1y ago
If you have the Partner Hours app, you can go under "More" and click "My Availability" to see what date your current availability schedule started. For example, I haven't changed mine since November 7, 2020, and I know this because it says so on the app. If you don't have the app, the same information should be available on your stores BoH PC under the Partner Hours icon on the desktop.
I would just double check and make sure it hasn't been changed recently....... Just in case....... Though it's also possible your old manager never entered it in the system and just remembered it.
On a completely unrelated note, you don't have to find coverage for a sick call, and under current guidelines (in the US at least), you can't come to work if you've had a headache in the past 24 hours.
Agreeable_Tea33441 points1y ago
I've never heard of the headache thing. Doesnt sound right. (Nothing but my word to prove I have a headache, and past 24 hours seems excessive) you sure its not a headache and another symptom combined?
feisty3141 points1y ago
Yeah, I'm sure (though I'm not sure all stores are properly following the Covid Coach). If you have had one secondary symptom (including a headache) that is new or unusual to you, the Covid Coach says you should stay home and self monitor for 24 hours. The thought is 24 hours is enough time to see if the headache subsides on its own, or see if any other symptoms pop up. If you have two secondary symptoms (like a headache and a sore throat, or headache and vomiting) then you have to do a full 10 day isolation.
Source: I'm currently on a 24 hour self-monitoring with a sore throat and only a sore throat. You can Google "Starbucks Covid Coach" to see all the symptoms and directions for what to do if you have them.
casprinjuniper1 points1y ago
Don't just ghost. You'll have a bad reputation among your coworkers and you'll never get a good recommendation from Starbucks.
Sorry you are in this situation. God I'm so happy I have the SM I do. Some of them are just ASSHOLES.
vietlazed1 points1y ago
Show proof of your availability that you and your SM signed and approved
dwightshru1 points1y ago
I put my two weeks in by emailing my manager. you usually have to ask them for it tho bc it’s their partner numbers
