Question about sick hours! (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by corncob999
Okay so backstory— someone at my store tested positive for covid and I don’t feel comfortable going to work until I get tested, which I am doing on Monday. Though I am fully vaccinated I still don’t want to take any risks at all because everyone I live with is immunocompromised in some way except me (and my grandpa lives with us as well). I have really bad anxiety about covid and germs and stuff in general which is probably unnecessary but I can’t help it, I haven’t even gone maskless in public once since being vaccinated in April. I told my SM I was going to get tested asap and would come back to work once I get negative results, she said that’s fine and just to keep her updated.

She just texted me and told me that she took me off of the schedule entirely for the next 10 days. Can I use sick hours for any of this? I checked on p-hub and I have 37 hours, but can I use them in this situation?

I would ask your SM about isolation pay which is still applicable until August 9th (if you haven’t been on paid isolation already). They may have taken you off the schedule if one of your shifts overlapped by 15 min or more with that partner within 48 hours of them having symptoms. However, you are also able to use your sick hours to cover any of that time as well.
