243 thinking of returning after about 2 years off, any big changes? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by junekusama
I quit mainly due to an extremely toxic location in addition to having to move out of state. I won’t be returning to the same location, but I like all the locations near where I live now and I’m hopeful! I used to be a shift supervisor but I’m mainly looking to go back to get a degree thru ASU.
Any advice??? Drastic changes in the past year?

Starbucks has turned into a full blown fast food experience

Just curious we’re you looking for changes for the priorities of a barista or priorities of a shift supervisor?

Kind of both? I’m not sure if I’ll be returning to a barista role or a shift supervisor role. There’s a large demand for both in my area

Drastic changes for the worse.

COVID turned this company into a clusterfuck. If you can get a good sense of the culture of whatever store you’re applying to and it seems like it’s all right, by all means go for it, but I wouldn’t go back to Starbucks right now without knowing what exactly you’re signing up for.

243 here. Don’t ever come back. Find yourself something better and don’t settle. The siren sings. Don’t listen.

258 here. Most of the baristas I know are only staying because of ASU.

The job went downhill massively. We are always out if some product (i.e. caramel drizzle). Sbux changes their covid policies constantly without regard to the partners health or well-being. Customers have become extremely picky and demanding, while not even knowing what drinks their ordering. The good ones used to out weigh the bad but not anymore.

COVID has definitely changed the dynamic with some rules, business flow and product outages. But the job is still the same for the most part. If ASU is the motivation and an important benefit for you, I'd say it's worth it.
