Go and straight up ask! If your shift is understanding (they should be), tell them that you'd like some bar time and that being at the window the whole time is mentally exhausting, and/or you need to change it up a bit to work your best.

To be honest, you don't even need to tell them why unless they ask. I love the bar and often ask if anyone's on it, or if I can be on bar (when coming back from break or lunch and I know it's a chance to assert where I'm going to transition back to). If they ask, be honest. If they want your best effort and work, it's a two way street. They have to work WITH you on this.

window sucks so bad. it's not mentally stimulating at all (a 5 year old can count change). sorry for your experience...just ask and if they take negatively to your request that's a huge red flag for future issues that may arise and you should leave that store.

I used to be stuck on dto and window and became good at it because it was all I ever did, which made the shifts put me there more. I totally get how depressing and draining it is. Explain this to your shift or manager and they should understand. If they don’t understand or try to change it up you can always talk to your DM.

i completely understand how you feel, i am ALWYS drive thru monkey and it’s literally why my last day is august 14th. it fucking sucks
