Just had my first day back as a rehire (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by boderlinebarbie
I started crying as soon as I got home. It was so overwhelming to be back. I have social anxiety and I feel pressure as a rehire to be a good partner. Do you expect rehires to be perfect? I hope my new partners give me a chance as I normally take a month or 2 to get comfortable. Just using this post as therapy.

I am a trainer and I train them as a normal hire who never has worked for starbucks. I have no expectations for them. And I actually got a rehire yell at me because I was treating them as if they never worked at Starbucks before :/ but that was what I was told to do.

Yes. Same. Rehires must stay humble. They have missed out on things, forgotten things, or changed stores that do things slightly differently.

Yea it was bad. This person made me cry for an hour after work and I had to call my SM to tell him. The person in question came in and quit the next day :/

Shoot pics of the recipe pages, and review like flash cards. Once you have the drink recipes memorized, thats most of the battle. You know how to heat a bagel and other food.

If they put you on bar regularly you’ll get back in the swing but don’t expect yourself to push 10 drinks in 5 minutes. You’ll get there!

Be kind to yourself. Unless you were only gone a week or something.... it takes time to get that muscle memory back. And if the lay out is different that makes it harder. Not to mention minor tweaks Corp. makes to recepies.

Just be kind ok. It will come. And reviewing those drink cards and taking pictures as mentioned wouldn't be a bad idea.

I hope they all treat you as a new hire! That’s what we do at my store. No expectation; you just do you.
