I have been studying asl and i realise that i more then likely know enough atleast to get orders through while being polite etc

ASL will look nice on any application. I don’t know if it’ll make or break you getting a job though. That said we’re desperately hiring so as long as you’re personable and have a good work ethic you’ll probably get the job.

Personally I don't think it would make a difference. I work in an area with a big deaf community and most of the time (if not all) they just come in and show an order on their phone screen. As for handoff as long as you make eye contact and nod they'll get their drink. If I'm not taking the order and making it I let the barista know who they are and what they ordered.

It might make the customer feel better though that they can actually communicate. It's kinda like it won't hurt that you know it but probably won't help your chances either.

Unless you are in a highly deaf populated area (like near a deaf school) it makes almost no difference…. I’m a coda so it was on my resume but it made no difference my manager forgot and then was surprised when I talked to deaf people…. It’s really easy to be hired at Starbucks…. As long as you have the availability they need and have an ability to communicate well in an interview you should be fine …. I’m in fl I just wish I knew more Spanish that’s like 40% of our customers here. I’ve had 3 deaf customers (no regulars) in 5 years in this district….. I had one regular in another area I was in …. Dress well, communicate clearly, and if you want to impress the baristas (who are definitely judging you) be friendly and order something simple and preferably coffee or tea (I know that sounds crazy but I judge someone who’s like I’ll have a strawberries and cream Frappuccino or some tik tok drink)

There was one person at my store who was fluent in ASL and they never bothered to do the special interview to get the certified “I sign” pin so it probably won’t be that helpful on the job unless you serve a large deaf community.
