tbh if you’re gonna have that mentality, do it. my biggest pet peeve is working with someone who genuinely complains all day or is in a bad mood 24/7. if you hate the job, quit. it is not the same as working at mcdonald’s where you can have any attitude or do whatever you want with no repercussions.

I'm genuinely curious how many other jobs people have had who claim to hate sbux and that it's the worst.... this comment hits home though. Don't make everyone else around you miserable with that mentality. If you hate it now chances are you'll hate it more down the road. Do what's best for your happiness!

that’s how i felt my first couple of weeks there. i say give yourself about 3 months to see how you feel first because this really is a learning process

Yes yes yes! I cried every day for the first month ngl. I worked mornings tho and everyone is intense bc of peak, and they had me on bar…😵‍💫 but by the end of my second month I started getting the hang of it and I started to enjoy my job by the third month. I wanted to quit my third week but I was advised to give at least four months before I quit bc that be better bc at least I preserved and I would be able to use it on my resume. It ended being the right decision.

Yes! I also hated it for the first little bit, but now I love it.

Do it, it’s a bad job. People saying they learned to love it are the equivalent of when your nose gets desensitized to the monkey poop smell at the zoo.

There’s no shame in needing a pay check. If you need the money and have to endure one of these types of places, respect. But don’t let these corporate goons exploit you. Resist at every turn. Insist on your breaks and take the whole thing. Don’t stay a minute longer than you’re being paid to. Don’t show up a minute earlier. Do the bare minimum because they’re paying you less than the bare minimum. And actively work towards something better for yourself. Plenty of office jobs pay more for significantly less work and stress.

Also, never buy into this ‘partner’ ‘family’ propaganda. You are an expendable number to the corporation and none of those people will go to your funeral or visit you in the hospital. In fact, they will actively work against your best interests by pressuring you to work sick and denying you the benefits you’re entitled to. Protect yourself. And file incident reports for EVERYTHING that could even maybe become workman’s comp or a payout due to customer abuse/injury.

Take every single mark out even if you give it away. Become a pirate: take all you can and give nothing back.

well you sound fun to work with
HengroenAndLlamrei 7 points 1y ago
Every other post on these subs is people saying their manager pressured them to come in sick or threatened consequences if they didn’t find their own coverage. It’s gross. Everything is hearts and flowers until the monkey poop hits the fan (illness, pandemic, etc.) then you see how little you matter to these mega corps.

right none of that is okay and obviously corporate doesn’t care about us but i feel like it’s just common courtesy to carry your weight. otherwise you’re just making the shift worse for your coworkers and they have to pick up your slack bc you want to do the bare minimum
HengroenAndLlamrei 1 points 1y ago
That’s what they are counting on: decent people who actually care about their fellow humans. Don’t fall for it. Convince your co-workers to also do only their job and that’s it. No above and beyond. No extra effort. The bare minimum as outlined by your employment contract and every single benefit you are legally entitled to (make sure you read your employee rights and benefits). They want extra effort? They can pay for it. It’s not you against your co-workers. It’s you against the machine.

I mean I’ll be honest this job ain’t easy compared to other fast food jobs. They have a lot of expectations for you to follow.
airernie 2 points 1y ago
Yeah, but at the end of the day you don't smell like hamburgers and drip grease.

Been there, done that.. :-)

I honestly felt the same way when I first started working at sbux. I feel like couldn’t get everything right and I didn’t have the most welcoming team at first. Give it a few months and maybe you’ll like it. I ended up transferring stores and it made a big difference to my work environment. I’d say give it some to see if you really like the job or not.
phillipniemann 3 points 1y ago
I mean is it really that bad? Why did you join in the first place, give it time and people will talk to you more. What was the point of posting this and not explaining, what advice do you want?
janedoe__05 3 points 1y ago
what do you hate abt the job??
Mr_SCPF 2 points 1y ago
It’s because it’s your first week. Stay a bit longer and see if your attitude changes. You’re technically not even out of training.
HeliumBalloon22 1 points 1y ago
Ppl in this section have Stockholm syndrome lmao. Only part of the job I like is making drinks, everything else can eat a dick. No, I will not do customer support. Stop telling me to read those laminated cards.
clitvibes_savelives 1 points 1y ago
I just put in my 2 weeks. I’ve been here 8 months. I’ve lost respect for the company as a whole and hate showing up everyday. I’m ready to actually afford rent.

What a great time for this to happen to you then! Everywhere is hiring! Good luck out there!
FfierceLaw 1 points 1y ago
It’s lousy in the beginning when you don’t know what to do and people don’t talk much to you but understand no one can talk much, we gotta be doing stuff constantly. Insist on a headset, it’ll help, I think we neglect to give newer partners headsets
