Not a rant, just a vent-i (self.starbucksbaristas)

Sometimes I feel like I'm in a stalemate. I came on after I got laid off from my good paying job due to covid. Starbucks was the only place hiring, or the only one that called me back. I'll be hitting the year mark pretty soon and do plan to move on but I won't be able to until mid of next year. Sometimes I see the light at the end of the tunnel and sometimes time just seems to move extremely slow. Not trying to be a bummer. I know things will get better but as of now it just sucks. My availability, the early hours, the mayhem and everything else. Probably just me.

You're not alone. Many people come to work at Starbucks because of temporary situations (i.e. need health insurance, laid off, situations requiring flexible scheduling).

The recent chaos has also made me impatient to move on. What has helped me is refocusing myself on the steps I'm making now to transition on from starbucks. Reminds me this isn't a permanent situation. I also try to focus on what I enjoy doing at Starbucks and leaning on my coworkers.

Keep your head up OP.
