What do you guys wear to work? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Hi! I just got hired and I start in 3 weeks so I wanted to ask what the dress code is? I looked up the lookbook but the examples break the rules (like no t-shirts but I see a lot of people wear them when I google “Starbucks worker”) so I was hoping I could get ideas from you guys :)

I have a solid comfy jean rotation for work (x3) i bought from the thrift store, yeah literally w/b striped t shirts but also i have a white button up, a comfy dark gray blouse, and ofc more dark gray shirts. Other button ups like henley's also look nice & are comfy.

i think you should wear something simple your first day, like jeans and a t-shirt, and then observe what the other partners are wearing and follow suit. at my store we wear ripped jeans on the floor and things like that, because our store manager is pretty lax. so get a feel for what everyone is wearing so you can mimic them

You can also wear shorts when it's hot, the standard is no shorter than 7 inches above the knee. That can very person to person though, just use good judgement :) I love to wear cargo shorts but my more feminine coworkers often wear form-fitting denim shorts

My store gave me a super condensed version of the dress code pages when I got the “prepare for your first day” email. Tshirts are definitely fine and don’t over think it too much. Stay safe with the pants for now and try to do just solids until you cop a feel for what other partners at your store usually wear. Mine will wear blue jeans

Look at page 15 of this 27 page $1 I was given this by email when I onboarded in January 2021, just 7.5 months ago, yet people here have been telling me it's outdated. There is a much shorted Dress Code out there too that does not have the t-shirt prohibition. Add to that the rules/restrictions imposed by DMs and SMs that may be even narrower than this or the SMs like mine who are pretty nice and liberal within reason and we're kind of all over the place.

It does say, probably on page 14, that Sbux promo t shirts are ok, but caveat, i've been told this is out of date even though I got it when onboarding earlier this year. comes down to the SM is the final say in my experience

I wear lots of baggy plain shirts and a mix of jeans and pants that look like sweats (but are not). I like to stay lose to be on the safe side
