Are you allowed to make your own drink at your store?

Maybe I’m lacking in imagination, but when beverages can be infinitely modified and we’re allowed free beverages on shift, how is possible to “steal product” unless those beverages are consumed by non partners?

You shouldn't really "be allowed" - it's against policy because you could steal product. Same reason why you're not allowed to use your partner numbers on your own till to discount/mark out stuff.

That being said... my original store usually made our own drinks if our SM wasn't there, but we were all creatures of habit and got the same drink all the time.

How is it "stealing" if the beverage a partner is making is also being marked out by them?

You must come from a very slow-paced store if partners have to wait for their drinks to be made. In busier and more congested stores, doing so would mean not having enough time to actually consume your beverage during break.

I don't think you read all of my comment?

I didn't say it *is* stealing, I said it would be a theft risk. You could totally mark out a grande chai and then just make yourself whatever you want, regardless of whether or not you marked it out. If you're making it, you can add what you want to it. Therefore, that would be product theft.

Also, 3/4 of the corporate-owned stores I worked at were actually very fast-paced and busy. What we often did if we were breaking during a peak/rush was that our SSV would warn us about our upcoming break, and we would call it out to the POS barista to put it through and mark it out before we took our break, so the drink would go through the line on its own. Then we break when our drink is made. Otherwise, like I said at the end of my comment...

I don’t understand the motivation to mark out a grande chai and then make yourself whatever you want when are allowed to modify our beverages as much as customers, but if we did, yes, it would be bad for inventory. If I’m marking out a venti brewed tea and want an extra bag, I include it in my order

Not so much motivation, it can be laziness, or sometimes people will mark out one drink and make two, stuff like that. All I'm doing is explaining the policy and why it's in place, I never said I agreed with it or anything.
