store wouldn’t answer the phone and somehow that’s MY fault(self.starbucksbaristas)

i had an emergency yesterday and had to call out. i texted around to find coverage but nobody would take the shift. i called the store 6 hours before my shift started, i called probably 8-9 times, and yet no answer. i gave up and sent and text to my SM as well as the SSVs telling them the situation and today i got my ass handed to me because i “should ensure i’m calling the store and finding coverage, not calling off via text”
maybe answer the phone and i won’t have to call off via text?? make it make sense PLEASE
i hate my store bye </3

i was told call the store, if closed or no answer, call sm, if no answer text sm

I think you're supposed to call your SM, at least that's what my SM told me. It's ok to try the store but call your SM and if they don't answer leave both a VM and a text

I think the official policy is for you to call the store and call out, then the shift finds coverage. Your sm may not be in the store and see the text to notify them in time.

I was told: call store to let shift know, then call SM. If you know ahead of time, you’re supposed to actually find coverage yourself with another barista… which is ridiculous if you don’t have their contact info smh

They ask us to but it is not our responsibility to find coverage for call outs. That is a shift’s job

Same thing has happened to me before. It is procedure to call the store, then call the SM, then a shift, then text if worse comes to worse
