I tested positive for Covid, and my manager is still having everyone I worked with come in (self.starbucksbaristas)

So for context my store is a hot mess right now. I was out for a week visiting family and in that time our dm straight up transferred and is gone now, our SM announced she’s moving away and apparently no one saw her for pretty much the entire week because she was having health issues. I guess last week they had to close the store early almost every single day because of call outs (lol all of our new hires quit because our store sucks).

I came one day early from my time off, on Monday to cover one of my coworkers 6am shift. I started feeling like I had was having an allergic reaction because my eyes were burning and red (which I now learned can be a symptom). I returned Tuesday afternoon with a bad headache, runny nose, and dry throat feeling pretty shitty but still not thinking I had Covid for some reason (I’m vaccinated so I just assumed allergies or-at worst- the beginning of a mild cold). By yesterday morning I was 100% sick with a fever and all around just feeling horrible. I managed to find coverage for my shift, called out, and took a Covid test. I sent my SM the positive results and started texting everyone to let them know I was sick. She responded I think a couple hours later saying “I’m working on this with our dm, lots of isolations”. The shift I worked with Tuesday texted me saying they were having him stay home for ten days along with everyone else I worked with.

The issue is, since I picked up that morning shift on Monday, I’ve worked with both the openers and the closers. One of the morning girls I worked with texted me saying the SM told her “according to Starbucks policy” that I’m the only one who needs to isolate. It just seems weird that she’s told people different things now. I feel like she realized the openers and closers had ALL been exposed and is now trying to make up rules about it. To make matters worse another girl I work with has been sick since Tuesday and is going to get a Covid test today

Does anyone know what the current official policy on this is?

Pretty sure if you’re vaccinated and exposed you can come back, If youre not, you can’t. I’d call partner resources

It's a terrible and dangerous policy that will only make the pandemic go on longer. there's a good chance that you passed on the virus to some of your partners, and they may then infect more partners or customers before they feel any symptoms that would send them home.

I would call partner resources. Your SM and DMs' goal might be to ignore safety and keep the store open.

I was informed by my SM that I worked with someone that tested positive but because I am vaccinated I do not have to isolate, I can work. I'm fine so I don't mind at all. I like my SM and partners so I'm happy to help. I'm working at least 9 days in a row including my birthday this week. Sorry you are sick, it sounds terrible! Get better soon! I'm starting to think I want a booster already.

Thank you! That makes sense there’s a large portion of our store that’s not vaccinated so that’s probably who she’s making stay home. It’s just scary because I’m vaccinated but I have Covid so I’m afraid I got other people sick😭 happy early birthday btw!

Only unvaccinated have to isolate if exposed. Vaccinated only “get” to isolate if they have symptoms.
