Advise on quitting Starbucks (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by dirtyydre
I have been with Starbucks since the beginning of the year, management and partners have been great, but this job is so mentally tolling. I just got a job with a company I’ve been with previously and the hours, pay, and environment is so much better (customers included). I want to be polite and put in my two weeks but going into work is torture for me. Im tempted to put in a one week notice and call out because I do not want to go back in.

Leave dramatically in the middle of your shift.

Lol I wish, I feel like maybe I’ll call my manager on Sunday and say I resign effective immediately😬

if you’re not looking to rehire/use them as a reference, it doesn’t matter how you quit- so have fun with it lol.

most starbs managers won't give references anyways so send it

Girl, just do it. If there is anything I’ve learned in the last two weeks, the managers truly don’t care about you. Baristas from my store are dropping like flies. We’re overworked, under appreciated, and understaffed at my BUSY drive thru, we went from having a 11 partner peak, to 4-6 partner peak, with a call out every day. I’m leaving for the same reasons. I have been out for the last 3 weeks, one week on vacation, 2 sick with COVID and I learned so much while I was away and was way happier. I unexpectedly got a new job this past week which I’m super excited about, it’s a chance for me to get my mental health back. I spent a lengthy amount of time composing a very nice resignation text to my manager, followed by a completely unwarranted text from said manager who was pissed off that I and two other partners are leaving. Not my problem. Didn’t even get an “I’m happy for you! let’s find you coverage for the shifts you can’t make!” Nope. Instead it was “I can’t believe you dropped this on me unexpectedly. You need to find coverage for your remaining shifts.”

Just leave. You’ll be much happier in the long run. I know I already am and I have not officially left yet😇 good luck to you! 💚

Yeah I just wrote a letter and said my last day will be mid next week! I’m gonna work my last shifts this week and the few next week then I’m freeeee

Guess it depends on how much you care about your fellow baristas or if you ever plan on visiting that store again.

do what's best for you, you don't owe starbucks anything.

You could have your second week shifts covered, that way you can leave after just a week (or less). More than one partner has left that way
